Metallica – Dyers Eve Lyrics

this however, is not the case with Dream Theater. they always been good. maybe they had one slip up album in 97, but right after that, they bounced right back in 99 and release Metropolis Pt 2, a progressive masterpiece of an album |

ok. this is THE most poetic metal song ever written. i mean you can feel the hatred James has towards his parents. and his poetic voice and imagery and symbolism is just fantastic. not only is this the most insane drum track lars has ever done, but all around, it's just insane. a masterpiece if there ever was one. |

arguably the most poetic metal song ever made. definitely the most passionate song Hetfield ever wrote. when you listen to it, you can feel his anger and hatred. ...And Justice for All is, without a doubt, the best album lyrically written ever. |

Metallica – The Wait (Killing Joke cover) Lyrics

um wrong. the cover will never be as heavy the original and it will never be as awesome. you don't mess with Killing Joke material, and Metallica (granted i like them alot, they're one of my favorite bands) does not deserve the recognition they got with this song. Killing Joke never got the recognition they deserved and that's a sad fact. |

that connection that they do is part of the progressive/experimental edge that DT possesses. They did that alot on Awake, Metro Pt2, Six Degrees, Train of Thought, Octavarium, Systematic Chaos, Black Clouds......basically every album except When Dream and Day Unite and Falling into Infinity. haha it seems that their 2 less favored albums are the ones that lack the "connection" factor. unfortunate. Also, what's sad is that Portnoy was so disgusted with the result of Infinity that he was considering leaving the band. Good thing he gave up alcohol shortly after that album and stuck with it, while kicking out Sherinian cause then Rudess came on board in 99 and things just took off! |

Dream Theater – The Spirit Carries On Lyrics

it's not that radio is too good for Dream Theater, Dream Theater is too good for radio. I don't think that their songs will reach number one because DT is not "Radio-friendly", but what is "radio-friendly?" i'll tell ya: The Top 40. and the top 40 fuckin sucks. there's no thought behind any of those songs and they're written just for the sake of radio appeal. it's a shame to real, deep, poetic, music: i.e. Dream Theater, Jamiroquai, Ash, Killing Joke. |

ok the second verse is wayyyy off.
you have:
"Curled up in the darkness
Searching of the light
The smell of sweat and shit
Steaming through the night"
the correct way:
"Curled up in the darkness
Searching FOR the light
The smell of STILL sweat and shit's
Steaming through the night"
please fix this. |

Dream Theater – The Ministry of Lost Souls Lyrics

ok. think about this: a woman, who's "suffering was all in vein", is "scared, but she's prepared" to drown at the "water's edge". the man who goes in after her, saves her against her will: "i gave you life. you would not take it", but he himself could not survive. the perspective of the song is a man who drowned after saving the woman who was afraid of their relationship. the man is reflecting on this event in heaven. now the woman could perhaps be having a dream of this and the message is sent to her in her dreams.
the connection between the man and the woman is made so like this. "even in death i was the one who would not leave you." so forever, he will be with her in her memory.
the reason why the man goes in after is because he sees the girl drowning, but the man cannot bear to live in a world without her or her love. because without her love, he could not love others or even himself. thats why he goes in after him.
the last verse. "as time went on, reached out my hand. it reached all the way to heaven." this shows that even in death, he will forever be with her and she will live on to see another day. the man is a hero, but she cannot see that. she realizes that when the man reflects on this event. |
