System of a Down – Toxicity Lyrics 15 years ago
Toxicity is actually a word anyways -- It's a measure of how lethal a toxin is. Though Serj is pointing the toxicity of the city, so you're right there. Urban sprawl is destroying a world we don't even own -- The disorder that is, ironically, the natural order.

Modest Mouse – Bury Me with It Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the song is referring mainly to religion, and one's belief in an afterlife -- He wants to be buried with his suit (His beliefs) And he is like a hummingbird unwilling to move -- Smashed out of the way regardless of his stubbornness. Even though he lives life as much as possible (Stayed out every single night.) He still believes he will be immortal in the afterlife. At the end of the verses, when life hands him a paycheck he believes he worked harder for, only then does he realize it was for naught. (Paycheck is what happens after he dies.)

The World/Inferno Friendship Society – Let's Steal Everything Lyrics 16 years ago
Song meaning is fairly obviously about kleptomania XD but this is one of their funnier songs, definitely. By the way, only 1 comment? Wow.

The World/Inferno Friendship Society – Brother of the Mayor of Bridgewater Lyrics 16 years ago
I think there's an error -- He doesn't say "less lonely and it helped me," He says " It made me less lonely and inhumane," Or at least that's how i heard it.

Warren Zevon – Lawyers, Guns, And Money Lyrics 16 years ago
Huh. Always thought he was saying "Lawyers, Guns, and Money; can't get me outta this." As in he's screwed, nothing can get him outta this situation XD

Metallica – Eye of the Beholder Lyrics 16 years ago
Yeah. Fire is a fair one -- You have freedom so far as it doesn't infringe on another's freedoms. You yelling fire infringes on their right to the truth, which the gov't itself is ironically destroying.

Metallica – The Thing That Should Not Be Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't know, it doesn't seem that a simple H.P. Lovecraft reference fits into the theme of the album, which is being conformity or being restrained and controlled by others. I think that that's just on the surface, when i first heard it, i thought it was talking about how the A-bomb is the ultimate control -- It's use or lack of it has control of the future of the world.

"Messenger of Fear in sight
Dark deception kills the light." -- Could refer to the Cuban Missile Crisis, when the tangle of espionage almost killed the world.

"He watches
lurking beneath the sea" -- Nuclear submarines could end things faster than world leaders could react.

"Crawling Chaos, underground
cult has summoned, twisted sound" -- Underground testing on the bomb, which was summoned by the Manhattan Project (a sort of cult, not letting anybody in and keeping many dark secrets)

"Out from ruins once possessed
fallen city, living death" -- Hiroshima was destroyed, while the fallout caused radiation sickness (living death)

"Not dead which eternal lie
stranger eons Death may die" -- Not only a reference to the poem, but the fact that the planet will become eternally dead. In the fact that there is nobody left to die, Death itself dies.

"Drain you of your sanity
face The Thing That Should Not Be." -- People ignore the atomic bomb because it's too scary a thing to face. Should people continue to ignore it, there could be disastrous consequences of not realizing when it is going to come.

Metallica – Damage, Inc. Lyrics 16 years ago
I look at it from a different angle -- The song looks more like terrorism and genocide to me, and how people outside of it are prevented from knowing it's horrors as much as possible by groups like the government and the harmful groups themselves.

"Dealing out the agony within charging hard and no one's gonna give in" -- The harmful group won't stop because nobody with any power will attempt to stop them.

"Living on your knees, conformity, or dying on your feet for honesty" -- Don't just sit there and be blind, learn about the genocide in Darfur, when it happened in Rwanda, and ACT. The Holocaust wasn't the only one.

"Inbred, our bodies work as one. Bloody, but never cry submission." -- The victims should never submit, and never should the rest of the world. Don't allow it to exist, band against it as one.

"Following our instinct, not a trend, go against the grain until the end." -- Just because you're told not to worry about it doesn't mean you shouldn't. Listen to what you're telling you, not what others are telling you.

"Blood follows blood and we make sure. Life ain't for you and we're the cure." -- The hate and violence in genocide leads to more violence and hate. Also genocide is also referred to by the damaging groups as "ethnic cleansing" or a purging of the genetic pool.

"Honesty is my only excuse, try to rob us of it, but it's no use." -- Genocidal groups often truly believe the others deserve to die and cannot be convinced otherwise. Also the truth (honesty) cannot be destroyed, only covered up by the gov't.

"Steamroller action -- crushing all, Victim is your name and you shall fall." -- Again, genocide is a force that cannot be stopped by a few small groups here and there, it must be one banded movement against it, or they will simply fall.

And now i've been typing for almost 15 minutes on one comment. Right.
