| 16 Horsepower – Straw Foot Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Hay foot ( not hey, but whatever) straw foot, is an old term from the army, back when few people new left from right, they would tie hay to one foot and call out "Hay foot straw foot" instead of "left, right". I beleive the term Hay foot then came to mean someone who is "green" or inexperienced. |

This song is a cover, the origin is unknown and very old, but it is a Christian song about someone who is dying and looks back on all the trials he had/will have and looks forward to the rewards he will receive in heaven. No Hades I'm afraid (greek mythology). |

| In an interview David states that for him, God is like the "beautiful axe" in the song, amazing and beautiful but also fear-inducing. | |
| Woven Hand – Last Fist Lyrics | 16 years ago |

You posted the lyrics from "Twig" which is "scatter sleep from our minds entranced" by the way. This has very little to do with generational dysfunctions as THAT is taken from a chant by Saint Ambrose. While I think your hypothesis is interesting, I doubt that generational dysfunctions is a theme, most of his songs carry heavy christian/native american influences. Back on to the meaning of THIS song, it seems to have something to do with childhood ( possibly David's childhood). |

| Woven Hand – Story And Pictures Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's true that most woven hand songs have strong christian influences, but this one is not so much to do with the virgin mary as with his wife( He often remarks how the sound peacocks make is the name of his wife's name "Leah" ). | |
