| All Time Low – Stella Lyrics

Deff about the drink, Stella Artois lmao. He's pretending that Stella is a person who loves him, but he's falling in love alone, (aka getting blackout drunk alone). "Stella" is only happy when he's wasted, b/c that's "her" job. "I've got so many friends, and they keep me coming back for more" could either mean his friends encourage his drinking, or he sees alcohol as his friends. "I lose myself in a chemical moment," means that he's losing himself to his drunken behavior created by the beer. He wants to give up on Stella, but something keeps him coming back for more. Clever song. :) |

| Bayside – Montauk Lyrics

Could partly be about the movie, I've never seen it, but Bayside is from Long Island (like me!) & there's a beach here all the way at the end of the island called Montauk Point. He could be saying he feels they've reached the end & Montauk is referred to as "The End" by a lot of Long Islanders, so it's kind of symbolic. |

| Boys Like Girls – Dance Hall Drug Lyrics

Dance Hall Drug = ecstacy. She's either using it to feel older, or the attention is giving her the feeling of euphoria. She's setting herself up to get hurt, used, and abused but she doesn't see it yet b/c she just wants to feel cool. The guy in the song is planning to have sex w/ her, and she thinks she wants to be older, but she doesn't know what she's getting herself into. She thinks having sex = love and romance, but she realizes she made a mistake and it was too late. |

| Boys Like Girls – Thunder Lyrics

This song (to me) is about a guy who is leaving for whatever reason. "Winding road" is a reference from Wonderwall by Oasis, so his "Thunder" is comparable to what a "wonderwall" is, aka, someone you love. The changes he's going through ere inevitable so he told himself he wouldn't get attached, but he's still holding onto love although he knows he shouldn't (I'm holding onto something, & I do not know why I try), b/c there's not much he can do to change the fact that he's gone. "I tried to read between the lines, I tried to look in your eyes, I want a simple explaination of what I'm feeling inside. Gotta find a way out..." means that he's spending so much time thinking about this situation although he's powerless, and he wants a way out, aka he wants to go back to where she is. He and this girl had an incredible romance that lasted over the summer, and he compares her to thunder, b/c thunder is something that suddenly surprises and excites people. Thunder is also a powerful force (much like their love). "Bring on the rain, bring on the thunder," when it rains and thunders, it reminds him that he wants to be w/ his own "thunder" again. He wants to call her and hear her voice, but he doesn't know how to express how he feels about her. "Itching for the tall grass, longing for the breeze," always gives me some imagery of a meadow during the summer, and maybe he spent a lot of time there w/ the girl. The emotions overwhelm him, so he has to "step outside just to see if I can breathe," & contemplate how he'll ever see this girl again. He feels like he's trapped wherever he is, but he wants the girl to know that he's in as much pain as she is, although he maybe didn't express it enough before he left. This song is his way of coping w/ his loss, and figuring out what to do next. Either way, she'll always be his "thunder" (wonderwall). :) |

| Boys Like Girls – Me, You, and My Medication Lyrics

I feel like this song is about a guy who has been through a lot in his life or one really bad event, therefore turns to drugs and drinking to handle it to take away his pain. When he says "love is just a chemical creation, will it be permanent?" I think he's trying to say his drugs are his idea of "love" b/c of what he's been through, but he doesn't know how long this "love" (aka his high) will last. He meets a girl that he's beginning to fall for, and he thinks she can help him, but he's afraid to open up, b/c he thinks that she may get freaked out about how many issues he has, but he is too disoriented at this point to understand that she really wants to help ("Found my way to the highway, I don't wanna tell you the state I'm in," sounds like he's embarrassed, and "Is it too much to ask, too much too fast, too much to ignore?" sounds like he thinks she'll just abadon him when she finds out about his problem).
"Feels like your body's getting closer, but you seem so far away, medicine make it okay," means that she is there for him physically, but he feels she doesn't understand, so he's taking more drugs to cope with the feeling of being misunderstood. Regardless, he turns to medication to take away the pain of the problems he's had, but he turns to the girl to take away the pain of his addiction to this medicine. The "synthetic sensation" is also the feeling his drug gives him. "Can you feel it? Do you feel it coming down? You gotta get up, gotta get up off the ground. Can you hear it? Can you hear me screaming?..." sounds like he's having an out of body experience. Maybe he's overdosed, and he's passed out and he is screaming at himself to get up and get it together.
Just my extremely long take. I love this song so much. :) |
