The first part represents the endless cycles of supplanting belief systems. Old religions are washed away, only to be replaced by newer ideologies. It's especially evocative of the Crusades with its usage of the words "hero" and "sword". The second part (starting from "above") points out the inherent elitism present when one puts their beliefs above those of others. |
