| Weezer – Pork and Beans Lyrics | 14 years ago |

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So the song is obviously about not conforming to whatever is cool. The music video further fits into this theme with the whole range of freak shows who have become Internet celebrities. |

| Jonathan Coulton – Still Alive Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think this song is a metaphor for someone who has been in a really bad breakup and in a way they feel like they're dead inside BUT don't regret the relationship because they felt like they've learned alot "for the people are still alive." Or as the song would say: "So, I'm glad I got burned. Think of all the things we learned for the people that are still alive!" |
| Billy Idol – Eyes Without A Face Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| -------------------Sad song whose melancholy melody fits nicely with the song's story about a guy knowing that his relationship is going to the dumps. Eyes without a face means her identity becoming unknown. There's someone under the mask, but it is not the girl the guy fall in love with. | |
| Sex Pistols – Anarchy in the U.K. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Um, okay... Now to actually talk about the SONG'S MEANING. This song is about nothing. It's awesome - it is absolute lunacy, there are some HILARIOUS lines in this song like trying to rhyme Anarchist with Antichrist. The true sign of a shitstirrer, culture jammer or whatever you call it is that they are able to make a mockery of themselves as they are making a mockery everything else. This is pure chaos and I love it - hasn't lost any of its power. |
| Phil Collins – Sussudio Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ---------- About a young man (virgin) infatuated with an experienced lass. | |
| Phil Collins – Don't Lose My Number Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Sounds simply like a mother dealing with a teen running away from home. It is a common theme in Genesis and Collins music. | |
| Prince – The Ballad of Dorothy Parker Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Dorothy was a waitress on the promenade She worked the night shift Dishwater blonde, tall and fine She got a lot of tips - She was hot. Well, earlier I'd been talkin' stuff In a violent room Fighting with lovers past - Prince was fighting with the misses. I needed someone with a quicker wit than mine Dorothy was fast - She was flirting. Well, I ordered - "Yeah, let me get a fruit cocktail, I ain't 2 hungry" Dorothy laughed She said "Sounds like a real man 2 me" Kinda cute, U wanna take a bath? - Dorothy wants Prince to cheat on his wife. I said "Cool, but I'm leaving my pants on" -she say- "Cuz I'm kind of going with someone" She said "Sounds like a real man 2 me" "Mind if I turn on the radio?" "Oh, my favorite song" she said And it was Joni singing "Help me I think I'm falling" -Ring- The phone rang and she said "Whoever's calling can't be as cute as U" Right then I knew I was through -Dorothy Parker was cool- - Dorothy is seducing him and he is falling for it. My pants where wet, they came off But she didn't see the movie Cuz she hadn't read the book first - He prematurely ejaculated. Instead she pretended she was blind An affliction brought on by a witch's curse - She was cool with it to make him comfortable. Dorothy made me laugh -ha ha- I felt much better so I went back 2 the violent room -tell us what U did- Let me tell U what I did... - Prince goes back to his misses. I took another bubble bath with my pants on All the fighting stopped Next time I'll do it sooner This is the ballad of Dorothy Parker - Prince took a bubble bath to stop the fighting, seduce his misses but all the while he thinks of Dorothy. This is a great song! |
| Elvis Costello – Oliver's Army Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Very good. | |
| R.E.M. – Everybody Hurts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ------------- This song has a medical effect as it never fails to lift your spirits during moments of melancholy or mourning. The lyrics are so simple and easy to understand, the power is all in the execution. Hold on folks! | |
| Michael Jackson – Another Part Of Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ---------------- My favourite MJ song. This was one of Michael's most positive songs that plays into his themes of not making assumptions about people you do not know anything about -read: Michael Jackson. Captain E.O. is win though. | |
| George Harrison – Got My Mind Set On You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ----------------- This song is about buying human slaves. It's a lot of time and saving. | |
| George Harrison – When We Was Fab Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| What a wonderfully catchy song! It's the most "Beatles sounding" song on the Cloud 9 album and plays as a nice piece to trigger nostalgia in the Boomer or post-war fan. | |
| Genesis – Throwing It All Away Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ------------- I think the broken marriage meaning is quite clear. The fact that this is the last song on the Invisible Touch album with lyrics is quite significant - why isn't it In Too Deep or Tonight, Tonight, Tonight the last track? Because this is Collins sticking his chin up going - you left me? Fine, you're screwed now - you're throwing it all away and you will miss me like the dickens. Little did Collins know he would be developing the blue print for writing every single by a female R&B singer in the new millennium. | |
| Genesis – The Brazilian Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ------------------------- Nice instrumental to play out an epic eighties album. Love the guitar work in this. | |
| Genesis – Anything She Does Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
------------ Centrefolds, of course! "You decorate the garage walls, Hang in people's halls, Live in secret drawers," Gold. |
|
| Genesis – In Too Deep Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ------------------ I think the song is about a girl that left a guy that she could not trust because he took her for granted and now he realises what he is losing, but in classic tragedy style, it's too late - he's in too deep. | |
| Genesis – Land Of Confusion Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ------------- Probably THE song that best sums up Baby Boomers during the Reagan era. Boomers in their thirties attempting to relive their rebellious, idealistic youth and make the world a better place while listening to Genesis and Phil Collins. "The Land of Confusion" is the fear that we would have ended up in a nuclear winter as the Soviets do battle with the Gipper. I wonder how that went. | |
| Genesis – Tonight, Tonight, Tonight Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| ------------------- This song follows Invisible Touch, which also uses a lot of code words for drug use. However, I don't see radio friendly Phil as a badass in this phase of his career... The song reads like he was in a bad partnership with his agent or something. | |
| Genesis – Invisible Touch Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The drug references, specifically heroin, is quite apparent you can't see anything BUT that. However, I tend to feel Phil was writing about being infatuated with a destructive girl using drugs as an analogy. The lines "She seems to have an invisible touch" were improvised when the group were developing music, so it is not like there's anything personal about drug abuse that this song originated from. | |
