I love this song--anyone else thing "Dashboard" by Modest Mouse kinda ripped that back beat? |

Can't believe there are no comments! I love that middle stanza. You have to lose everything and separate yourself from it all to know where you stand. Very zen. Perhaps a statement about materialism?
At the end he's kinda questioning society.... Are we evolving or going backwards? I think a lot of people wonder this about technology--are we helping ourselves or hurting ourselves in the long run, and is it a reversible change, but I don't know whether the last stanza is strictly about technology, it could easily be about really any constantly changing thing in the world, whether personal like a relationship or massive like the state of the globe.
The idea of being all together alone is very odd (and the song title has to be changed!) and one of those earthy, semi-spiritual thoughts that Cloud Cult sings so much about. Not really sure how to word what it means, I think it's just one of those things you understand. |

I agree with you about the meaning.... I think he's also saying that ultimately we're all the same. We all came up from the ground, from a million little pieces and are just destined to find where our places are.... |

Such a beautifully creepy song. I love the instruments at the end and that interview just makes it all the more powerful. |

A strange song about otherworlds and religion, popular topics for Cloud Cult. A very sweet story about people digging for meaning and not seeing another gift. Everyone wants him to be a savior but all he does is fall in love. Interesting. There's a mention of the child eight years old, though I don't know if that has any significance outside of the Kaiden story.
And the line "as if to prove man's domain over everything unknown" is incredible! |
