This song is amazing and so sad. I can totally relate to it word for word. "I went to bed I was thinking about you Ain't the same since I'm living without you All the memories are getting colder All the things that I wanna do over" He's (it could be in a girls prospective too, but im gonna say he) thinking about how much his life has changed now that he's not with the girl he loves anymore and all the memories that used to make him happy to think about, now just keep causing more and more pain. He just wants to go back in time and fix things. "Went to bed I was thinking about you I wanna talk and laugh like we used to When I see you in my dreams at night It's so real but it's in my mind" He just wants his happy life with her back, so much that he dreams about her at night and his dreams seem so realistic even tho its not reality. He doesn't want to wake up and realize that it was all in his head and he has to face reality again. (Its a really bad feeling when you are so happy in your dream but then you have to wake up and face the truth that it's not real, and you still have to face the pain, know what i mean?) "I know I've gotta let you go But I don't wanna wake up" Powerful line - He knows that is over and he needs to move on but he can't help but want to stay in his dreams, they're like an addiction to him. "I went to bed I was thinking about you And how it felt when I finally found you It's like a movie playing over in my head Don't wanna look 'cause i know how it ends" He remembers how good it felt to be with her. Their relationship was like a cheesy love story with a horrible ending (no one likes those right?) But his sorrys wont work - its the end and theres no changing the past. This song is pritty self-explainitory, and i didn't really need to explain it, but this song really speaks to me, my bf left me and the only way i can be with him is through my dreams, i wish i could just dream forever, cuz it sucks to wake up and realize it was all in my head. Thank you Skillet, you are an amazing band and I love the fact that you incorperate God in most of your songs. Also, is it just me or is this song kinda like "Hear Without You" by Three Days Grace? I think they have the same general meaning. |

I love the version Meat Loaf does, his voice is so powerful. But anyways this song makes me cry expecially the lines "I guess that our being together was never meant to be, but Martha, oh Martha, I love you can't you see" and the ending is just epic "And I remember, quiet evenings, trembling close, to you" brilliant. Takes me back, I'm only 14 so every1 thinks cuz of that I couldn't have really loved him, but I did, and still do. This song says it all. |

| Yes this song is amazing. But it was originally much, much longer. Most of the Bat Out of Hell album songs were supposed to be between 20-40min long actually, but Tod Rundgren (the producer) made them shorten them unfortunitly:( they should hav left them long and made short versions of all of them for the radio. Kinda like Jethro Tulls "Thick as a Brick" song that was 44mins long, but they made a 4 or 5 min version that became popular. I don't think this is good for weddings tho. Cuz im almost positive its about a girl breaking up with a guy, but the guy still loves her. | |

Wow. This song definitly applys to me. Beautiful song, I agree with most of you on the whole relationship thing. I think it's about a guy or girl whos love left them. "Tell me what I'm suppose to do With all these left over feelings of you Cause I don't know" He still has feelings for her and doesn't know what to do with them. "And tell me how I'm suppose to feel When all these nightmares Become real Cause I don't know" He was always so afraid to loose her, and now that he has he doesn't know what to do. Overall, he's numb and doesn't know what to think of all this or how to react to it. Hes empty and confused. "And I don't know how we, Separate the lies here from the truth" I think that he is thinking back to all the things she said to him and promises she made and can't figure out which were truthful and which were lies that he believed. "And I don't know how we Woke up one day somehow thought we knew Exactly what we're suppose to do" They thought they were meant to be and understood it all, but now he realizes that they were wrong and doesn't know how or why they thought that in the first place. "So leave me At the roadside" This reminds me of a quote from a Meat Loaf song called if God Could Talk... "If God Could talk, would he tell you it's alright just leave, and don't look back at all the memories the best of times, the mess you made of me, walk on, if you think it's gonna make you strong." So basically he's just telling her to get on with her life and just leave him there to suffer the heartbreak. He also feels worthless and just wants to be left alone. "And hang me Up and out to dry" He's "wet" with his sorrow and sadness over it and he just want's to wait alone until he "drys" (feels better)but he knows only time and some "sunshine" (hope, good things, luck, optimism) will "dry" (heal) him. "And I don't think you see The places inside me That I found you" He doesn't think she realizes just how much she meant (and still means) to him. She was his everything, and now that shes gone he doesn't know what he has left. Thats just my interpretaion of this song, but we all have our own opinions. This song really speaks to me and alot of other people who have recently gone through a horrible breakup. But in reality (Gosh reality sucks don't it?) it will get better in time. |

Ok I don't know if I'm just thinking about it in a really depressing way, but to me this song is about suicide. I think that its about a guy who broke a girls heart and she killed herself because of it. Then the guy visits her grave and feels really bad and wants her back, and would do anything to see her again and have things the way they used to be. Then I think the guy kills himself and they are together in heaven, and they never have to say good-bye. Thats just my opinion lol. What do u think? |

Jim Stienman is the freakin most brilliant song writer in the world!! This song was originally written for Meat Loaf to put on the Album Bat Out of Hell II (in 1993) but Meat Loaf wanted to use I would do anything for love (but I wont do that) instead and wait to put this song on Bat Out of Hell III (in 2006)......so Jim let Celine sing it. Later Meat Loaf sang this as a duet with a norwegian girl named Marion Ravon (who has an AMAZING VOICE). Celine did a good job, but it's no where near as good as when Meat Loaf sang it. Theres just too much emotion and power in his voice that no singer could EVER beat. MEAT LOAF 4EVER!!!! |

Makes me cry every time:( I think this song is about a girl leaving, and the guy doesn't want her to go, he doesn't understand why shes leaving either. hence "How was I to know?" But, he knows she's leaving so he just wants her to know that, "For crying out loud you know I love you". Then he thinks about it and realized that he really changed his life and helped him in so many ways, so he thanks her, and tells her that that is why he loves him. He also tells her that he's gonna need someone to make him feel like she did but, no matter who that is, he will always love her. I can totally relate to this song. My bf just left me, and "How was I to know?" lol. but, I told him, I love him I will always love him and I thanked him for everything that he's done for me, and i know I'm gonna need someone else eventually, but there will always be a scar from him, and some part of my heart will still love him. Ok I see why you can think that God is telling this to a person that's going through a rough time, but I personally think that it's like "music" is the one telling this. Its kinda saying that, even though you've gone through so many hard times and you think that it will never get better and all you want to do is get away from everything, that "music" can always help you through. I also think that when it says "The beat is yours forever, the beat is always true" says that when everything seems like a lie and that nothing can last forever, music is always there for you, it can never lie or leave you. So basically I think this song is just saying that music can save you, even when you're going through a horrible time you have to know that there is something in the world that can't leave you, and that you can have it forever.:) |
