This song is obviously about sex (as stated by Mr. Lambert himself), and it's totally hot. I still don't completely understand the AMA controversy, because his actions were just an extension of the song. It's blatantly about sex, and a three second kiss and mimed blow job reflect the lyrical content. The fact that he refused to apologize made me like him more. |

In a more general sense, this song is just about feeling alone. In the city especially, it's easy to feel lost among a sea of people. The lyric "I wanna ask for direction/But I don't dare to disturb" seems to point to that; it's difficult for that narrator to trust and forge relationships because he doesn't want to impose. But he's self aware, he knows that "it's a beautiful world", and he wants to try. That's how I see it, anyway. Oh, and arkyhogs totally reworded kalan60's comment.

I think this song is somewhat autobiographical. The lead singer, Chad Wolf, is originally from South Carolina and moved to LA to make music. But in a broader sense, it's just about leaving behind what you know and are familiar with, and moving forward in search of brighter opportunities. |

I love this song. I think it has something to do with honesty. Especially the lines "won't you see it your heart, you should/oh, don't you know you played your part real good", like finding the capacity for truth inside yourself instead of coasting by on a facade. Also, "you will see how the waves wash away all the dirt" implies the water, naturalistic and pure, will wash away the dishonesty. That's how I see it, at least. |
