Belle & Sebastian – Sunday's Pretty Icons Lyrics | 13 years ago |
There is no hole in which to hide There is no plane to catch No hotel room that's warm enough No rented room that's quiet A friend I've known through sic degrees Comes down to where I hide A friend I've known Through dreams and prayers She comes back to my side You're so far from wanting to talk You're so far from wanting to say Something good Feel something good The secret lives and loves of girls The secret lives of boys The stories the both of us Too close ever to love Whiskey from the island of sand Whiskey from the year you were born Tastes like kidnap and ransom and exile Somebody asked me What heaven was like Somebody asked for heaven Somebody asked me What heaven was like Lunch in the happening canteen of souls Every girl you ever admired Every boy you ever desired Every love you ever forgot Every person that you ever despised is forgiven **These are the lyrics on the vinyl sleeve** |
Belle & Sebastian – Sleep the Clock Around Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I'm not sure, but I think The Paperback Throne is a band that's also from Glasgow, Scotland. Maybe this is about one of their members. |
The Shins – New Slang Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I always thought it was "without a trust OF flaming fields" like without a lot of money or something. |
Neutral Milk Hotel – Communist Daughter Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I fucking love this song. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Talking Bird Lyrics | 14 years ago |
When I first bought this album, I sorta dismissed this song because i herad bad things about it. But one day I listened to it, and now it's one of my favorites. Beautiful metaphor, and it's tempo matches the melancholy feeling. |
The Cure – Disintegration Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I feel like The Cure is one of those bands that can rhyme and not sound like a tacky pop song. I love this song. And the album. |
The Cure – Untitled Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I love that this song is called "Untitled" because I feel like untitled songs sort of get pushed into obscurity, but it's not an obscure feeling at all. I think everyone feels like they don't have the words to explain how they feel at times. I don't know. I guess I just love that subtle contradiction. |
Sondre Lerche – Good Luck Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song makes me happy. :) |
Rent – One Song Glory Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I love the guitar in this song. |
Tegan and Sara – Speak Slow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"I'm so far along and I just don't need you. I'm so alone." I love this song so much. And this band. |
The Decemberists – On the Bus Mall Lyrics | 14 years ago |
To me this song is about female prostitutes, but I don't think it actually matters. I think it sort of describes the blatant cruelty of the world. |
The Decemberists – O Valencia! Lyrics | 14 years ago |
To me this is a love story between the singer and the place. It's almost like he's never experienced a real love like this, but he loves this place. So he imagines it's like his lover... I don't know if that makes sense at all. Just something to think about. |
The Shins – Girl Sailor Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I find the tune of this song bearable, but I'm absolutely in love with the lyrics. I think it's about a guy who loves a girl, but has maybe dumped her or pushed her away for some reason. He's still in love, and she's taking the separation very hard. "A stronger girl would shake this off in flight, and never give it more than hour, but you've let you're heart decide. Loss has conquered you." She thinks more with her heart than her head. "You are not some saint who's above giving someone a stroll through the flowers." She's not making it easy. Personally, these lyrics remind me of myself... |
The Postal Service – Nothing Better Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures." <- Favorite line ever. |
Tegan and Sara – Are You Ten Years Ago Lyrics | 14 years ago |
LOVE this song. |
Modest Mouse – Dashboard Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree that this song is about staying positive, but I think it's also describing a kind of frustration with life, if that makes sense at all. "Well you told me 'bout nowhere, well it sounds like someplace I'd like to go." -I think he's saying he would rather be anywhere but there even if that means nowhere. "We talked about nothing which was more than I wanted you to know." -they found out too much. Overall I just think it's about dealing with life and coping with your mistakes. |
Damien Rice – The Blower's Daughter Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"I can't take my mind off of you til I find someone new." I know that feeling all too well. But I also think this song is WAY too overplayed on the radio. |
Talking Heads – This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I really love the part where he says "Out of all those kinds of people, you got a face with a view." I personally think he's saying that the person is pretty but also has a point of view. Sorta like Out of all the pretty people in the world, you have an opinion too. Anybody else agree? |
