Our media does suck, doesn't it. Makes you want to find that special someone and run far away from everything and everyone, and just shut the whole modern world out. I just might try that some day. |

This song reminds me of me and my boyfriend. It is a little tough sometimes, but I think its usually just miscommunication. Especially because he is away for his job right now. But I love him no matter what - he is everything to me. I am going to visit him soon, and I can't wait. It seems like time is taking forever, but I know it will be worth it :) |

Christian and Gloria agree to stop fighting. They kiss and make up, and then sparkly confetti falls from the sky (like, duh -- didn’t you see the video?). |

Gloria is trying to run away from Christian’s music, and Christian is determined not to let her (he doesn’t understand that that is what is making her feel yucky). Gloria still loves Christian, but she just needs him to turn his radio off! It finally comes to blows and they duke it out in the street. Very messy. |

Christian and Gloria aren’t feeling so good, and they both want to find something to make them feel better. Drugs? No. Alcohol? No. Prescription medication? No. A psychiatrist? No. Shock therapy? No. A padded cell? Hmmmmm…No! Doesn’t anybody make something that will make them feel better??!! Don't we have a fix for EVERYTHING! What is their ailment anyway? Must be a new and rare dis-ease. |

| Green Day – Viva la Gloria! Lyrics

Christian thinks that Gloria doesn’t love him, but really she’s just messed up from listening to his radio instead of her own. When she is forced to listen to everyone else’s music, she is confused, desperate, and helpless. When she listens to her own music, she is more fearless. Her trust is the words in her songs. |

Gloria puts on her coat and goes for a bike ride. Being away from Christian's radio makes feel more like herself because she gets to listen to her own music again. Christian's music makes her feel lost, confused, and not in control. Her music gives her clarity, and makes her feel strong and capable of anything. |

Every word, every thought, takes on a life of its own. Literally.
Do to others as you would want done to you -- karma is a funny thing.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. |

| Green Day – East Jesus Nowhere Lyrics

|
Gloria tries to have hope & faith that Christian will let her listen to her own music again. Christian and his friends think she might be religious (even though she’s not; she is spiritual, but not religious), and they don’t like this. Why can’t they see, she is fighting like crazy and doing everything she can, because all she wants is to be able to listen to her own music again!! |

Aaaaah …… Love. You find it with your heart. Not your mind, your ears, or anything else. Only the heart can feel it - so shut everything else down and listen to your heart. |

Gloria leaves for a while so that she won’t have to listen to Christian’s radio anymore. This makes her start to feel better, more like herself again. However, this pisses Christian off, so he plays with matches. |

| Green Day – Before the Lobotomy Lyrics
|
|
Christian turns his radio on louder and renders Gloria comatose. For her whole entire life, Gloria has always listened to her own kind of music. In her songs that she would listen to, she would find for herself what to think, the right words to say, the right direction to move in, and an internal instinct that would guide her. When Christian makes her listen to his music, she can find no sense of herself, and she feels like a hollow shell that is now possessed by unknown others that take control of her thoughts, words and actions; it's like having 50 other people jump into her car, and they all try to take turns at the wheel. This makes Gloria want to open the car door, throw herself out and die. (ok, so maybe that’s a little more than just a lobotomy, but it has a similar affect) |

Gloria is on the edge because of Christian’s radio. His dark music, and the 50 odd singers that find their way in with it, is making her crazy, and she just wants to listen to her own stuff again (she likes light Magic 111.1FM). |

Christian’s childhood left him a little messed up, but he’s still a funny guy despite it (or because of it?). Now the class of ’13 is just trying to get out of this hellhole. |
