I do think the song is about addiction, although maybe not heroin i hate it how just because the man died of a heroin overdose not all his songs refer to heroin. I hate it how i found out that nearly every song on dirt was written by jerry cartell and not by lane stanley I gess Lane Stanley has a great voice but still you feel like you have a connection with the csinger and the leryics and you, you know? Anyway back to the song i think it might refer to addiction in the way that he is down in a hole and he is loseing controll feelling small ect he wants to "fly" beat this addiction but his wings have been sewd and heeeee :) Also i think this site should have a chatroom for like each band or genere. | I think the song refers to how people are born into poverty and others born into wealth. I think the song is written in the perspective of someone born in a crappy house with crappy parents. Fot instence they might beat him and he looks at the othe happy "normal" familys and is jealous of the love that they get. | |

I believe the song is about someone depressed and fucking board. I mean come on look at most of us, the average joe just going about life as everyday. Wake up Eat Work (get pissed of at your boss) Long drive home Eat Sleep Its a boring lifestyle routine is efficient and helpful but boring and repitive. |

| I think the song is about groupies, how they spread themself's wide open. How they lie about their age, and how they make him feel impure. | |

| Okay Krispan 21 dude firstly how dare you this was written by god (trent reznor) and his ex- drummer. Secondly i personally don't think its about herion i think its more about failing and being in such a low place to revert to masochism. | |

Hey, I don't really think that the song refers to Anthoneys lonelyness as much as it refers to addiction. (in my opinion) I justifiye this interpretation with these quotes and my referencing them. The song does refers to lonleyness but the way it refers to addiction would be; "I don't ever want to feel like I did that day Take me to the place I love, take me all the way" He dosent want to feel like he did that day possible something tromatic or coming of a drug binge "Take me to the place i love" possibly refering to the high of a drug his comfort high the place he loves. But i think this part refers to addiction the best; (Under the bridge downtown) Is where I drew some blood (Under the bridge downtown) I could not get enough (Under the bridge downtown) Forgot about my love (Under the bridge downtown) I gave my life away "Is where i drew some blood" possible a syringe injecting drugs. "I could not get enough" refering to the fact that when your addicted to something no matter how much of it you get it will never be enough to feed your addiction. "Forgot about my love" when your so heavily addicted you tend to forget about the people in your life you love about and you only care about feeding your addiction. "I gave my life away" throwing your life away when addiction sets in. Just my personal opinion. |
