UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Jondude and Paindriven I just read your meanings and they are amazing, beautifully written and in depth, and they are somehow similiar to what I had for my meaning. I'm gonna write it below and if you can give me some insight on my interpretation of the song then that would be great.
This song seems to be about someone who gets pushed around all his life only to realize how pathetic and weak he is being. He can't take it anymore and he begins to fight back against all the people who have bullied him and treated him badly. I think the title of the song has most of the meaning right in it and it can mean many things. It could have to do with the rose as a flower. A rose is a beautiful flower but if you bully it by picking it from the ground it could cut you open with it's thorns, as if it was fighting back at you for messing with it in the first place. And of course it can be the past tense of rise. For example the main character who was always cowering below everyone else, has now rose up to defend himself. This is explained perfectly when Maynard sings "self-destructing dance that never would've ended 'till I rose, I roared aloud." It is a beautiful song that blends all the instruments perfectly, including the vocals. |

This is a great song of power and energy and i love the intro with the 3 guitars, the way they make those little riffs blend together into one awesome intro astounds me. |

this is a great song, it's obviously about a friend or boyfriend who doesn't know how to act himself around other people. He's just trying to please everyone else, by dressing and acting like them. |
