| Bright Eyes – No One Would Riot for Less Lyrics

It is a very personal song and not close to what the title suggested. Yet I'm guessing that he calls it that because no one would riot for less than the loss of a loved one. Considering the times we live in now that may be all it takes. |

| Ween – Roses Are Free Lyrics

I get the song meaning alright. It's about our expectations not being quite what reality is but make the best of it because you only have one life left but remember roses are not free.. Heck A rose By any other name still has thorns!!
But what drives me positively nuts is that their voices on this remind me of another band I heard years ago and now I can't get the bloody song or snippets of the song from that other band out of my head. Ween runs the gamut from Alt-Country, to psychedelic to tex mex, jango blues...whatever else was on their mind at 2:30am in the morning. I keep seeing little porcelain dolls running around in this song singing it....don't ask why.
This has definitely got to reminiscent of a late sixties, early seventies psychedelic band. It's either that or Mister, Mister? Damn...it's hurting now. |

When I first heard this I thought Eddie was doing some cover of a 1960's Saturday Morning Cartoon theme. It's great to see the lyrics and a bit surfer slang explained but it still could stand for a kids cartoon theme especially with the bouncy arrangements. |

"Take me internally" is the dead giveaway phrase in answer to that and I've always thought that too. It's definitely a romantic and a bit twisted take on a love song. Of course he may have also been referring to the Vampire Myth. |

| Echo and the Bunnymen – Happy Death Men Lyrics

The phrase "Polish and shine" seems to be only of the only clues to its meaning. My prejudice would lead me to think that Ian may have been speaking of corporate ax men or kow towers to the corporate mentality. Is it just a serious subject of mortality turned on its head to produce silliness. Nursery rhymes often were written to disguise discontent with the rulers, movers and shakers of the day. Perhaps it's a British reference that this American listener may not be aware of. What is it exactly that the "Death Men" are standing in line for. Usually in mythology, Death is represented as a lone, cloaked figure with a scythe. This speaks of an organization of "Death Men". |

| Frank Zappa – Nanook Rubs It Lyrics

I believe that Frank was intelligent and well read enough to have possibly blended such a meaning into the song. At the very least I doubt he would disagree and enjoy the possibility of your interpretation. Archetypes are my favorite subjects and Franks lyrics are more intelligent and his musical phrasing is top notch. |
