Grendel – Pax Psychosis Lyrics 16 years ago
With Grendel the Voice Over Introduction is as important as the Lyrics. This song has a superb into. A psychologist tells you that "There is something wrong with your brain" There is a pause. And then...Military style robotic voices chant "Sir, Yes, Yes, Sir".

The inference is that these soldiers have developed a mental illness, they want peace ie: pax psychosis.

The lyrics are sung in the Grendel, devil advocates style and describe how society "cures" the illness of desiring peace. Pride, obeying orders without thinking, being subservient, not discussing doubts and slipping into a zombie like travesty of a human being. It's totally brilliant.

Covenant – Call the Ships to Port Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about our society. Our society is lost at sea, going round in circles and making mountains of mistakes. As in the book burning that preceded world war 2. There is a big storm coming, in other words trouble and it is time for us to "Whisper in the dark". Which means that Goths call the ships back to the safety of the port. It has other layers of meaning as well. ( This resonates with me as I live overlooking a harbour and have been at sea in storms many a time )

Another big theme is how easy it is to dash a person's hopes and how small little things can have such a big impact on our lives. Like a ship foundering on a small rock. We are more fragile than we like to believe and need a safe haven.

The Sisters of Mercy – Lucretia, My Reflection Lyrics 16 years ago
This song has many levels of meaning.

First as a Bass player the welcoming Patricia Morrison aspect is the Bass Line itself, not the lyrics. This song has an awesome Bass Line.

Roar of Big Machine is the War Machine, Dum Dum bullets Dive Bombers all point to World War Two as does the Methedrine ( Hitler was reputed to partake of the substance from time to time )
Hitlers War was fought both in the Occult arena as in the real metal world (Two Worlds). HItler brought the British Empire down to its knees in the metallic machine world, but he lost in the Occult battle because of the Borgia like deviousness of the British.

There are echoes of the same battle between the American Indians and the Railroad company. The American Indians doing the Ghost dance to defeat the metal war machine. And this takes the song to the modern day, with the Oil Wars.
