I love this song so much, I wish I could find more meaning to the lyrics though. It all just looks random to me, although I'm sure there is something. I don't think Mary is a physical person in the song tbh. I think she's either a split personality ("Mary, I was looking in the mirror for you"), or a memory he's obsessed with (presumably an ex lover.) I think either that side of the personality, or his recreation of that ex, twisted him to do something wrong (either kill her, or do some crime for her) and he's suffering for it, either in prison, or in some other way. Maybe the religious connotations of the song are a reference to people who think they've seen figures of, or been possessed by the virgin Mary? Not sure about the last verse of the song though. |

The final line,"Anxious eyes is a pleasure you seek Give me a show," ,the setting and the repetition of "human wreck", suggests (at least to me) that it's about a man and a prostitute. With the "I am a human wreck, you are a human wreck" being her hating both what she's become, and what kind of person the man is for hiring her. Hmm, what do you think? |

I know I got quite a few bits wrong>< Not my favorite ADULT. song by a long shot. I wasn't to keen on the D.U.M.E EP. & I interpreted the lyrics as something about subarban wives etc. The "They say it's really going to happen. I say it's really going to happen." combined with the "They�re double faced, they don't know what's true" makes me think of bitching housewives and chinese whispers. Along with the "you're better off where you're not dead everyday" Could be something to do with the boringness of their lives, and that all they have is their rumours. Though TBH that's probably all wrong, since it doesn't really make sense with the first verse, or lots of the lines. Oh well though:L |

Favorite song from "Why Bother?" bar Harvest. I get the impression that it'd to do with "the masses" who just sit back and allow wrongs to happen. The "putting their heads in mirror-lined boxes" line, seems to be relating to these people just sitting back and thinking about themselves, rather than seeing the bigger picture and doing something to help change the world for others. |
