I also think you are on the right track... thanks! It helped me understand the song a little more... and matches parts of the video. Here is my thinking about the meaning of "satellite skin" satellites are off the earth's surface, right? Kind of like people who think they are above earthly things... closer to heaven. But satellites are tied to the Earth... they were put there by "Earthlings" & they actually detach themselves from the earth (well maybe they can, but they are just garbabe floating in space... maybe the metaphor shouldn't go that far) the "skin" is what other's see... how you appear to the rest of the world. But it is surface and doesn't go deep. so... thinking satellite skin is like saying "above earthly things, closer to heaven... but just for appearances" |

i think this song is NOT about some girl who is doing wrong to him... i think it is about a girl that kind of dropped him, but he can't stop thinking about her. He wants her to do something instead of "cowering in fear." He wants her to fuck with him and give him a reason to write her off... but she doesn't...she is just gone. he just wishes she would come back & do something bad so he has a real reason to hate her... so he can get over her and "try sleeping instead." |
