The lyrics sheet says it's actually: "A boy in his innocence." |

| The Dear Hunter – The Oracles on the Delphi Express Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Quite sure it's a train. The sounds/music leading into this track (at the end of The Lake and The River) sound like a locomotive. Plus, like the Orient Express, I like to think it's a cool train with random crazy folk. |

| The Dear Hunter – His Hands Matched His Tongue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I like to think that something burnt down: "The smell of smoke, the evening sky was proof" Probably an attempt by his mother to burn down the Dime, as she suggested it in The Inquiry of Ms Terri: "Touch, taste, feel it ripping me down. A reprise, two times, the Dime, burn it to the ground." He's walking back to the main city and sees that his mother has gone through with it and probably ran off, and he realises he might never get to ask the questions he has waited too long to ask: "Belated conversation saturate anticipation for the answers that simply won't come." As a consequence of this, it is probably the Priest/Pimp who rapes and murders her in the next Act (the Procession). |

| The Dear Hunter – Saved Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"everything you thought you lost you've found." I think it's not his father who saved him, but someone else. In the end (Son, Father, and Life and Death) he assumes the life of this guy, hence he finds the life he thought he'd lost. |

i can not wait til Casey releases a full manuscript of this story after the six acts. All this cryptic symbolism and different interpretations are great, but I'm really looking forward to the real story of the Dear Hunter. Though, half the fun is in what it all *could* mean. |

| The Dear Hunter – He Said He Had a Story Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
If he kills the father (as in paternal father or holy father?) the last songs wouldnt make sense that he returns to a mother AND a father. I figured he'd left the war and returned to a family that wasn't his, in hope to start a new life. I'm taking the last lines in Father very literally "...she always loved her son, and you look like him." Implying he's assuming the life of his dead friend, the one who saved him. |

| The Dear Hunter – The Oracles on the Delphi Express Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Wow do you think this was planned for Act III? The oracles seem to tell his future: "Big steam ships, exits illustrate the flaw" When the bombs go off you'll know right where you are "Don't be ashamed of your amore faux pas" His regret and disappointment of his relationship with Ms Leading (apparent in Act III) "When the bombs go off you'll know right where you are" Finding his feet and starting over in Act III after he is saved from bombing in the war. |

| The Dear Hunter – He Said He Had a Story Lyrics | 16 years ago |

It sounds to me like the Dear Hunter re-telling his story to the person who saved him. The person is inquiring about the story and the Dear Hunter is lying about it, saying that he wasn't naive, that *she* was the fragile one, and that he was there to just have his way with her and then leave. We know that it is actually the other way around. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!! |

ok my constructive comment is that it is "love seems barren..." but the last time he sings that line, Casey actually says "love seems bare of meaning..." So both are right! |

| The Dear Hunter – In Cauda Venenum Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"Oh when I think about your eyes Oh when I think about your smile Oh when I dream about your eyes/lies travel all this way just to find love." I think after the last album, the Dear Hunter was admitting to himself that he couldn't escape his feelings for the woman he loved, Ms Leading. He's now been conscribed, and he finds that just when he's moved on, his love for her is remembered as a sense of comfort. Disappointingly. |
