| I see it as obviously meaning that Ben (the singer) trying to impress this girl (or guy? lulz) by changing the mistakes ("change everything wrong with me") that this girl obviously does not like as she is leaving him. He also wants to be with her again as he sees it as "liv[ing] again" as he repeats "I want to live again. I want to start everything over again" through the song. A little exaggerated but you get the point. "I never had the gift of holding on to you" obviously means that Ben does not have what it takes or continously makes the same mistakes over and over which doesn't appease the girl and causes her to leave. | |

| He said in an interview that it was about him personally locking himself in his room through the Day n night... He said that their was no light in his room so the only light he got was from the sun and when the sun set.. he would be covered in darkness..He would only have the opportunity to write rhymes throughout the day. He also said that he smoked weed, was severley depressed and only got out of his room to shit, piss or eat. -Well that's what he said but it's obvious that anyone can make their own meaning out of any song. That's also what Kid Cudi said... he made the song to help anyone cope or help anyone relate to their own "Day N' Nite" That's why songs are open to interpretations. | |

And you were startled by the fact That you c-could've had it better off by now (person realizes that he or she could've improved his or her ability to meet deadlines by now or could've been stress free if she or he had just completed assignment by deadline) It's not over until the quiet are calmed down (The stress is not over until the "quiet" when working or studying, someone is usually quiet, and "calmed" is that the stress is not over and one can not be calm until assignment is accomplished) Oh yes, maybe its too plain To stand on solid ground (maybe has something to do with drinking/partying and this caused the procastination, or maybe singer is being sarcastic about this peron's lifestyle and saying that maybe completing an assignment without being rushed as when trying to complete an assignment the day before it is do, is too "plain" and too boring [singer is probably being sarcastic and criticizing person's procastination) It got old, but you cant blame it all on me (person blaming his procastination on singer) I could be getting this all wrong and perhaps it could be about the singer with a person and as this person prefers to waste his or her time with the singer instead of completing an assignment that is due shortly (the deadline )... I get this from when your deadlines become my days and nights as the person would rather spend time with the singer instead of focusing on assignment... yeah deadlines could probablby taken metaphorically and not literal but yeah I try. |

I saw just what it does When its too hard for you to face it Still pushing you to make it (Singer sees how this person probably stresses or reacts negativly to a literal deadline [college work]) Its been no new news to me Cuz its all been done before (He has been through the stress that a deadline causes) Four years and we're still counting down Until all your precious time is wasted (Four years probably refers to a university and "precious time is wasted" probably means that if you can't meet the deadline you will fail and thus waste your time taking the class in the first time...) We still havent grown accustomed to the sound As they all begin to drown you out Its all been done before (not sure who he means by "they"/ in other words I don't get this verse) When your deadlines become my days and nights (The fact that the person has to meet this deadline stresses the singer as he begins to constantly worry) I'll take all your favorite lines (seems like the singer is mocking this person as his/her deadline approaches by throwing all of this person's excuses ["favorite lines"] at his or her face. not sure (When you needed it the most) (this seems to me that the singer could've reminded the person about his excuses at an earlier time so that the person could've avoided the stress of having to meet this deadline as it approaches) As your deadlines end tonight (are approaching rapidly lulz) As your deadlines end tonight |
