| Beirut – Elephant Gun Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think its about a boy who appreciates simplicity. However, he is complex on the inside just like the rest of us. HE wants the seasons to come - the seasons of nature and the seasons of his life so that he can experience all that he can. Lets be young and not trouble ourselves. lets drink and make love and hunt for the thing s that we want and aspire to. Our quite lives are are at times stricken with tumultuous things that we have to be prepared for. Its asong about tradition and progressiveness about beauty and destruction, about life and pain. | |

ITs about a girl telling an intereseted guy that if he reallly likes her he should get to know her. Shes a very carefree yet cautious individual. She just wants things to flow naturally and if possible correctly. Shes saying just give ti time and if we are meant to be we'll be. |

I never really looked at the lyrics until today. I always loved the song though, the voice was just another instrument that added to the overall passion and sentiment of the song. Everytime I hear this song it makes me cry. When I hear this song i think of it as a reckless hopless romantic guy who got drunk and called his girlfriend the next day to talk to her. THe winter and snow add to the romantic fell of a guy and his girl. |

| Albert Hammond Jr. – In Transit Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It seems like a very happy carefree song, but for some reason it has some subtle dark tones which also make me sad. I thiink its all about a journey. This song feels good because it reminds us of the journey we are taking as adolescents and the connections we've made and broke and how wewant to get away from the status quo and won't until the day WE mature and decide to to do. Everything we think is important like friends, girlfriends, jobs, etc are not going to matter when we decide to leave it all behind and go on our own path with only experience, ourselves, and if we are lucky a suppporting family. Mistakes are mistakes we sooner or later with or without the scruitiny of other people must move aheadand not care until we stop caring | |
| Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this is a song that follows the trajectory of who you fall in lust with someone. He was all peaceful and then got caught up and attracted to her. He likes what everyone dislikes about her. Then later he realizes that it wasn't really her she was attracted to but rather the idea of rebellion she possesed. He doesn't like her anymore because he liked her for the wrong reasons. | |
| The Cure – In Between Days Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think he just realized after a long time that a relationship he had when he was a bit younger still affects him. He has the memory of this girl that he really loved. She hurt him and then they broke up. She knows what she did was wrong and walked away because she thought it was the right thing to do. He agreed to her leaving because she really really hurt him. But, now even though there has been time and other girl(s) in his life, he just wants that girl back.Reflecting back on it he doesn't care that the girl cheated on him, and that they've moved apart, or that he has had other girls and she other boys, he just wants her to come back because in the end he knows she was a good person and they really loved each other. She was human, he's human, and love is love- now that he is older and more mature he realizes that. | |
| Black Sabbath – Sabbra Cadabra Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song to me is about a boy that falls for a girl. However, for some reason he reachews maturity and realizes that he loves her. He never wants to leave her because she is good to him and makes him happy. The lyrics seems quite simple and universal, yet because its black sabbath there is a sort of further explanation to which is accompanied by the voice and instruments. | |
| The Last Shadow Puppets – The Meeting Place Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song represents that nostalgic feeling from a breakup. Its over, they have both settled that and moved in different directions. They haven't seen each other since its been over. Neither wants to cut open the wounds of the past. However, their love is still strong and they still think of each other without the other knowing. They could go on without thinking of each other during the day, but at night when their subconcioussness unravels they are in each other's prescence. This always continues because their love was strong, perhaps they were each other's first loves. Time is cruel to them because it is suppose to make you forget but they never will. That goddam meeting place, which for both is in their own minds is heaven and hell, which possess a memory of love and hate for they both loved and lost. The song never says if they will ever meet. Perhaps the unexplainable events in life will lead them to the see each other someplace sometime- and that is the meeting place ( the place where everything adds up and they find each other again, at a different epoch of thier life, and have a second chance to begin again with a good amount of experience of life on their backs). "I'm sorry I meet you darling" is what is said if they meet at this place. and if they don't meet ever then this is the monolouge of each one, which acknowledges their pain that they will forever feel. This song is an ode to all hopeless romantics with a conciouss and want to never look back, but have feelings so strong that it is enivitable to have those emotions. |

| The Kooks – Ooh La Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think this song is not just literally about his ex girlfriend as many seem to think or about a girl that is trying to be famous. I think it could be applied to everyone. When I hear this song I picture a young girl in a relationship. She is very happy with her boyfriend, but then she goes out into the world and starts experiencing parties, others interseted in her, everyone putting fake ideas into her head (because that's how our messed up world is), etc. She does something that makes her break up with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is heartbroken, and knows that the girl that was so innocent to him and shared beautiful moments has been tampered by others. Her vivid spirit which made her want to experience life is the very thing that destroyed one of the most beautiful things she had- a great relationshp with someone who loved her and understood and continues to understand her. In our adolescene we become corrupted at one time or another, but hopefully maturity sets in and we learn from those moments of insecurity and lies and become better people. Thats why our first relationships usually failed. We know that if we had not wanted what we wished we wanted "aka fame" we would not broken hearts or been heartbroken. The singer is narrating a moment in head at which he reflects this and neither condemns nor uphold what the girl did to him. |
