Personally...I feel the song is almost reffering to a homosexual relationships. "Forgive me if I am young, speaking out of turn" --The younger generation is becoming more accepting, while the older generations has not. "I think that they could be The better half of me They're in their own place trying to make it right But I'm tired of justifying" --His love, he wants to be with them. But because of the strains homosexuals can feel by not being accepted, his love is out trying to be 'normal' but he's tired of trying to justify his feelings. "And right now there's a war between the vanities But all I see is you and me The fight for you is all I've ever known"--Homosexuals don't choose to be that way, the fight for his love is one he's only ever known. He doesn't know how to be different and the vanities of the world is what is keeping them apart. This is just what the songs reads to me, rather it is correct or not. |
