Dr. Dre – I Need A Doctor Lyrics 14 years ago
I'll say one thing about the lyrics on this page. I'd misheard "you lost the sun; demons fighting you."

But if you put that with the end of the video, it really does sound like he said "you lost a son."

Whadya wanna bet that was deliberate?

U2 – Beautiful Day Lyrics 14 years ago
Dude, what the hell?! You had to have been high when you posted that, I swear!!!

"See the bird with the leaf in her mouth; after the flood, all the colors came out" is reference to the Biblical Ark of Noah! After the forty days and nights, Noah sent a DOVE (not a bald eagle!!!) to scout for dry earth. After a try or two, she (the DOVE) returned with a bit of plant life (a small olive branch, I believe)!

No, this is NOT about communism, it's about a beautiful damn day!!!

Creed – Lullaby Lyrics 14 years ago
*looks at the date and replies anyway*

Not weird. I can't sleep without music sometimes; used to listen to lots and lots of trance and other such electronic and techno every single night because it kept me focused on something concrete and self-made, so my mind didn't have to work.

Otherwise, there are nights I can't sleep for hours on end (or at ALL) because my mind won't shut up with the soup of incoherent thoughts.

In fact, that's why I'm here right now. This and the previous track on the Weathered album, Don't Stop Dancing, were quite the necessity over the past couple nights for me, and might well be until my big trip this June.

Wow, this -is- a fucked up post now that I've read it. Nine years ago or yesterday, Jesus, I swear.

Listen to Don't Stop Dancing a few times. There was a time that song brought me to tears...because that's how I felt: "Hey, God, I know I'm just a dot in this world; have you forgotten about me?"

Disturbed – The Infection Lyrics 15 years ago
I know this song...so so well...I know it by heart, feel for feel. It's exactly what I am right now. I loved my fiancée so much... we were so in love... but I sabotaged the relationship early on. We fell apart after more than a year together. I didn't cry myself to sleep that night, but I've been just as broken as the lyrics of this song narrate. Afraid of the light... "empty home" symbolic for an emptiness within.

My message to all young lovers. Be extremely careful with your heart...with who you give it to. Fact is that her ways and mine were too different, but we were so happy together during the good times that even now, months after, part of me is still holding on. She had beauty, intimacy, desire...

But the fact is, when I pull it apart, we weren't meant to be. If you give your heart to the wrong person, you'll lose a piece...and sometimes that piece can be huge.

Incubus – A Certain Shade of Green Lyrics 15 years ago
the song is simple. It refers to roadsigns all over the place. Why assume something so complex to work into the meaning as grass or auras when it's right there.

A certain shade of green...as in a green traffic light. "The light's GREEN, GO!!! What are you waiting for, a certain SHADE of green?! Just fucking GO and stop standing around like an idiot!!!"

It's progress...it's simply about PROGRESS.

System of a Down – Prison Song Lyrics 16 years ago
The most... 'frightening' song I've heard from them. I've heard these things. Drug runners bribe our dear sweet government and in turn, the government outlaws lesser or non-destructive drugs to direct more money to the black market so more drug money laces the pockets of their corrupt, pompous asses so they can sit on something soft while they make the "lesser men" seat themselves in hardass coffins called prisons.

Bottom line, the government has no desire to stop corruption... they're as corrupt as three quarters or more of this blue but bloody little rock and they LUST for that money because they have a system...a loop... a spiral of twisted agony and laughter and they don't give a SHIT what happens to us!!!

Taking the thought this far...it pisses me off. It ALL pisses me off!!!

Yoko Kanno – Lithium Flower Lyrics 16 years ago
Since WHEN was Major Kusanagi bipolar? Lithium is a metal used in high-quality electronics for heat-sinks and power cells (batteries) due to a high temperature capacity and electrochemical potential, thus "lithium flower" refers to her high-end cyberized state and her beauty and grace.

As for Number Nine, it probably refers - as you said, Thomas - to Section Nine and 'nine out of ten', but I can't vouch for the John Lennon reference...

And 'incredible math' is probably a general "she's incredible" statement, since all of her is data and mechanics (Note that in the finale of S.A.C. and the interlude to 2nd GIG, she was forced to upload her entire consciousness to the world network. This proves that the Major is nothing short of an ex-human android with a ghost)

KoЯn – Word Up (Cameo cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm with BigDog65 to say the damn LEAST.
FIRST off: Quiffporn, when you talk about a band, you speak of them as a damn WHOLE, THEY ARE NOT PLURAL. There is no "Korn HAVE", it is "Korn HAS". For the love of GOD.
-
Now to address my damn point. You're all so FUCKING busy shitting on Korn or standing up for them. Go bitch on the FORUMS so people like BigDog, myself, and other people who want to know what the hell the song MEANS don't have to listen to your bullshit.

I don't CARE that you don't like Korn. I LOVE the Korn music I've heard with the possible exception of Haze (It was made for a video game and was overall too short). I do not care if you agree or not and anyone who does care has no damn LIFE. THIS coming from someone who seriously HAS no life. Go OUT and GET one, idiot flamers and stop shitting in my eyeball.

Again, this is NOT a forum. This site has forums. Bitch about the song THERE.
---

As for why I'm not taking my own advice and interpreting the song: I for one don't know the meaning. That's one of the reasons I come here in the first place. Now since this little war is OVER, let's see if someone actually willing to fulfill the purpose of this "SongMEANINGS" website.

Thank you,
Cloud A. Levi

Incubus – Pardon Me Lyrics 16 years ago
Self-explanatory song. It's simply about an utter outburst courtesy of society's bullshit.
It's a good song...
...but I have to say... - the compilation of this lyrics sheet SUCKS. There's no separation of the different parts of the song and it's missing some of the lyrics, such as the song's opening and the end of the chorus. Sorry if that upsets anyone, but it's the truth.

KoЯn – Another Brick in the Wall Parts 1, 2 and 3 (Pink Floyd cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
God...third page and still bitching about how suck the song is. Oh well...you guys give me a moment to shine and actually be of use. Thanks! <3 =_=

It's simple once you get a little inspiration on the first part. According to another source on the original version part-one page, this part conveys the following (and note that this does not entirely follow the other user's post, as I can't say it was all correct. The rest is my own interpretation):

His father was shipped to fight, and die, leaving nothing but a memory in his wake, overseas at war. Presumably, the subject was too young to remember this, describing his father as a "snapshot in the family album." He begins to question him for dying and leaving him with nothing worthwhile in his life and to be given up by what family he has left - if any - to the government in the form of public schooling (Note part two) and presumably foster care (Note part three).
These events serve as 'another brick in the wall' of his heart, making him colder and more withdrawn.

He is now in school. Rather than saying that he doesn't want to gain a successful education, the subject is speaking the education he also refers to as 'thought control', saying that he doesn't need for the teachers to control him, tell him what to think and do, when and where to speak, and what to say. One could also presume that this refers to peer pressure, and presumably the teachers are abusive, the subject calling after them and telling them to leave the kids alone.
Yet again, this builds his defense and makes him yet colder and more withdrawn, but this time he refers to the teachers and/or peers as the bricks, the causes of his withdrawal.

The subject has been placed into foster care, presumably due to rebellion against his guardian(s) and the school system. It could also be assumed that he has struck a teacher in defense of his peers. He claims that he does not need (or want) protection, coddling, pity, sympathy, or any other such things. Neither does he want or need the drugs typically associated with foster care, ones to calm and control him.
Again, this has caused him to withdraw even more, and he refers to his foster parents and those within the system that placed him there as the bricks.

This was not part of the original set. The subject has become so depressed and disheartened by everything that has been done to him that he finally seeks suicide to end it, stating that he is leaving the world and no words can change his mind.
Optimistically, it can be assumed that he is simply withdrawing entirely into the confines of his room or his own mind, or that perhaps actions - such as his peers/guardians/teachers giving him a break or the honest kindness of one or numerous true friends - would change his mind.

---

Personally, I like this song...save for KoЯn's ending.

Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 3 Lyrics 16 years ago
This one's simple...

He doesn't need sympathy, pity, coddling, protection, etc.
He doesn't need those damned drugs people like putting foster kids on to calm them down and control them.
He's seen what he believes to be truth...knows the plots and such.
And he doesn't need another god damned thing from the bastards trying to turn him into what they want him to be.

Goes hand-in-hand with the second part's statement.
