Thanks for uploading the ones I was too lazy to do :D

And on a side note, the full title of this song, "Yokusou Ni Dreambox" Aruiwa Seijuku No Rinen To Tsumetai Ame" translates to:

"'Nesting Within the Dreambox', or Cold Rain and The Philosophy of the Mature"

I'd have to disagree with you there. I think Kyo cares a lot about corruption in general - especially among people, hence songs like "Zomboid" and "embryo".

I wouldn't say Uroboros carries any particular religious themes, but rather spiritual beliefs. Afterall, Uroboros is the basically the cycle of life and reincarnation (though not exactly Buddhist).

It is entirely possible to be religious but understand that organized religion has flaws; in fact, I applaud you as a human-being if you possess that open-mindedness. That's what I think Kyo's doing here: he may be religious (I have seen them live and he does pray), but he understands religion has always had a dark side that needs correction. And if I may throw it out there, redemption is a prominent theme throughout Uroboros; and redemption of course begins with admitting one's sins.

Now that the full PV is out, I think you've got a huge amount of evidence backing you up, Dissonant.

As I'm sure we know, the gist of the video is Dir en grey being eaten alive by insects. Them being devoured by bugs is probably a reference to the act of decaying/ decomposing, in which insects or decomposers speed of the rotting of the corpse by eating away at its remains. Obviously, decomposing is asociated with death, making a definite connection your opinion. Furthermore, Dir en grey is being eaten alive by the bugs, which could show that Life itself is what's decaying, as in "breaking the cycle of reincarnation."

I never would have thought of that without your interpretation, so great work and thanks for shedding light on this song.

Dir En Grey – Obscure (English) Lyrics 16 years ago
Definitely about the dark side of sex in general, though more specifically the consequences.

The video is one of the best music videos ever, period; the symbollism is genius. I think most of the analyzation has been covered here, but I would like to point out the... naked robot woman with no limbs? You know what I mean.

That woman represents a life without meaning, as a relation to a mother who wants to abort her child. The woman and the unborn fetus are parallels, as are the mother of the unborn child and the gas-mask scientist in the PV. The scientist dictates the womans actions via a remote control, showing the woman has no control over her actions, or more directly, what happens to her. Along with the inability to think for herself, the woman also has her limbs severed, showing that her life is ultimately pointless. The life of a soon-to-be-aborted fetus runs in practically the same way; what happens to the baby is out of its control, and its existence is seemingly pointless altogether.

I had a hard time picking favorite songs with Dir en grey, but Vinushka has definitely got to be mine. It's impossible to describe how incredible this song is. I was lucky enough to see it live during the "All Visible Things" Tour 09 at the House of Blues, LA, and it was freakin' amazing.

I'm working on a piano arrangement of Vinushka xD It's challenging, but I have the whole intro (first minute) down.

Very interesing opinion!
I think you'll find that the music video highly supports your claims, that is if you haven't seen it already. The music video, however, seems to focus on being the victims, at least in terms of the atom bombs.

Dir En Grey – Zan -remake- Lyrics 16 years ago
Even if you don't like this version, you can't deny that this is what -ZAN- is supposed to be. I think that the old -ZAN-, while good in its own ways, can't be taken seriously as a heavy song. Sure it had all the components of a metal song, but deep down it was just a VK band trying to be hardcore. Now, that is not to say the old -ZAN- is a bad song, but I think don't think it truly obtained its potential.

Now we have the new -ZAN-, a merciless aural assault determined to make your ears bleed. This is the absolute craziness the original -ZAN- should have been! This is purely vicious metal! Dir en grey got it down this time, and the result is awesome.

The one thing about the new -ZAN- that I don't like though, is that everything that made the original special (and not just "meh"-tal) is absent; Kyo's maniacal laughter/choking and all that. From what I understand, -ZAN- is about insanity. The first song showed that but this version doesn't. Instead, it just sounds completely angry.

Well, that's all I have to say about that. Thanks for reading.

... he wrote about suicide in The Final too. 4 years, 2 albums, and this single later, Kyo is still here. I think you're taking his lyrical content too literally =/ I mean, look at the other stuff he's written... like ZOMBOID. I highly doubt that is his own personal experience xD

I'm pretty sure these are the real lyrics, though this time around I'm having a little trouble deciphering Kyo's growling. Despite that, you can still hear most of the English bits and the chorus (obviously).

I have to say I'm slightly disappointed with this single. Not to say I don't like the song (I love their metal side), but the sample they had on their site seemed more promising, in terms of being a truly unique song.

Anybody catch what the Japanese is in the repeat of the chorus? He says it right after the line "Kill myself"and right before breaking into the "Kill them all with the crazy hammer" part. It translates to "I will never forget." If anyone knows, I'd really like to know. Thanks.

Instead of going on an arrogant tyrade about how wrong these lyrics are, I will assume that they are the lyrics to the Taiyou no Ao single version of this song. If you want the Six Ugly version, here you go:

Dir En Grey – Umbrella Lyrics 16 years ago
From what I hear the end is just a shortened version of the "chorus."
The band shouts the "Hey, hey" part and Kyo finishes with "Miss Girl"... though it sounds a bit like "Miss Jelly." Ironic, since a year or so later came Increase Blue.

Dir En Grey – Hydra Lyrics 16 years ago
I guess I'm a year late on comments here but whatever. Let's do some title analysis!

The only way the title of this song makes sense in relevance to the lyrics is if you think about a Hydra's (a mythical greek sea monster, because I have a feeling someone doesn't know...) most significant ability: if you cut off it's head, it grows two more heads in the severed one's place. The lyrics seem to be identifying a specific type of people Kyo does not like. In realtion to the title, I think Kyo wants to say that no matter how many times you try to get rid of these people, they always come back, and apparently in even greater numbers than before.

"And that's all I have to say about that."

Dir En Grey – Dozing Green (English) Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, I'm a year late on the discussion here, but eh, what the hell. I honestly don't understand why some of you guys think that Kyo's screaming messes up his voice. Did you not hear the other ~3:25 of the song before the screaming? His singing voice is fine, if not more developed than before.

Besides, those screams at the end of the song have always stood out to me as the climax of the entire album. In my opinion, the general theme of "Uroboros" is reincarnation in a sense (seeings as that's what "Uroboros" means); wanting the chance to start over so one can change and repair the life they have.

To me, those screams are the horrible realization that life cannot be repeated and nothing can be undone. The screams are the mixed emotions Kyo (or I guess "the speaker") feels when he has to force himself to accept this defeating reality. Hence, the following line, which is also the last one, being "Abandon Hope." On top of that, the next and technically final song is called "Inconvienent Ideal."

Well, that's my opinion on the whole thing. Enjoy, anyone who may read this.
