I feel that most people interpret the lyrics of a song in a way of which they can relate closely to something personal in their own lives. CHORUS: "Follow me Everything is alright I'll be the one to tuck you in at night And if you want to leave I can guarantee You won't find nobody else like me" My opinion: The main purpose of this song is the chorus. This song is about a man who is having an affair with a married woman. This song is about him trying to convince her to put all of her fears and worries aside, and giving her the choice to leave her husband, so that she can be happy. He is saying if you want to stop having this affair and just be with "me", I can promise you that I will be the "one," and you wont feel unhappy like you do now, and you will not want to leave me. " You don't know how you met me You don't know why, you can't turn around and say good-bye All you know is when i'm with you I make you free And swim through your veins like a fish in the sea I'm singing...." My opinion: He is saying it doesnt matter how we got to this point (them having an affair), because it wasn't something that was planned. What matters is that they make eachother happy when they are together. "I'm not worried 'bout the ring you wear Cause as long as no one knows Then nobody can care You're fellin' guilty And I'm well aware But you don't look ashamed And baby I'm not scared Im singin" My opinion: It is obvious that he is saying he doesnt care that she is married, he loves her regardless. I think that maybe she feels guilty about their affair, and is fearful of leaving her husband, because she is afraid of how she may look to other people, so he is telling her if no one knows about their affair, then when she leaves her husband nobody will care. "Won't give you money I can't give you the sky You're better off if you don't ask why I'm not the reason that you go astray We'll be alright if you don't ask me to stay" My opinion: I think he is telling her that he can't give her material things to make her happy, because she already has that now, and is unhappy with her husband. He says that he is not the reason that she has fallen onto the wrong path ("go astray"). And he is saying that they both will be alright & can be on the right path together if she doesn't keep him on this wrong path with her.("if you dont ask me to stay") Basically he is telling her he doesn't want to continue to be the "mistress" I can relate to the woman he is singing to in this song.. It is hard letting go of all your fears, and trying not to worry about what other people will think about you. I guess what it all really comes down to is happiness or fear? Which should I choose? |

Hmmm..This song makes me feel nostalgic. It's amazing how we never forget that "one love." No matter how much we'd like our minds to forget that one person, our heart never seems to give us that ability to forget. :) I kind of like it.... |
