| MGMT – When You Die Lyrics | 1 year ago |
| Im interpretting this as a fourth wall break. In an interesting way. If you know Mgmt, they have fans that are drug addicts. So they'll buy their new album, find a hallucinogen, and go listen to that album after they start peaking. I am not a drug addict, but i do enjoy hallucinating every once in a while. With that said, If you have watched the music video, you would know its not trip friendly, but acts like it is at first. The song is referencing several things that would set off a bad trip, but its sung in a catchy way. Like the "Dont you have somewhere to be at 730!" line. If you are a responsible person, you'll make sure you have nothing important to do before you trip. "You said it twice, You said it twice" is an easy way to mess with someone tripping. MGMT are purposely trolling these drug users, mentioning mainly death. If you have a drug problem, you must be "ready ready ready to blow your lid off." But still why? There has to be more context. Well, its been proven that your body releases DMT in your brain WHEN YOU DIE (haha). If you dont know, DMT is the mother of all hallucinogens, it is the strongest trip you will ever have. Thats more or less what they are pointing out. Yeah, you're gonna be tripping so hard, but youre gonna be gone permanently, so it really isn't worth it. | |

| A Perfect Circle – Orestes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The song clearly has to do with sex, keeping in theme with the rest of the songs on the album having to do with girls. If you realize A Perfect Circle is another name for a pussy, you have it! The speaker is talking about his cock, even talking directly to it, claiming he can almost hear it screaming. As for the overwhelming hostility and keeping me from killing you part.. Guys are horny bastards all the time of course, it kills us when we can't have sex. This case is a bit more extreme, i'm thinking Billy was a sex addict. The Orestes part, he didn't want to feel anything, sex is a great way of relieving alot of things to where you're relieved from stress and pressure. This must be a way for the writer to do that. | |
| Mew – Repeaterbeater Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I'm thinking this person is talking directly to his heart during the chorus. The heart is something that beats repeatedly. He's using his brain over his heart instead. I've been in that relationship before where i want something good to happen, but my heart just doesn't agree with me. So there really is no use if that flame is gone. The relationship becomes annoying in a way. | |
| Mew – Introducing Palace Players Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Alot of the songs on No More Stories... have to do with Johan leaving the band. This is a song about that i'm sure. Introducing Palace Players i'm guessing is a term used to describe a stadium band that is looking for new beginnings, a new band, but same name. As you will notice the album starts off with a song called New Terrain and shifts into this song. Already you find a whole new sound. A song talking about Johan leaving and he will hardly get to see the band anymore because of his family, he has too many reasons to quit the band. His shaky home being the trouble being caused while he was off touring with the band. the rest can be self explanatory. | |
| Mew – 156 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Ok here is how i see it. This guy and this girl are no longer friends, and or they broke up. The girl says "Goodbye" to this guy because she just wants to move on. This guy doesn't want that and he has to see her everyday. He can't stand it. Jonas obviously being sarcastic when he sings "Don't you just love goodbyes." He talks about this girl leaving her books behind, not paying attention to them just to get away from him. How cold she is for saying goodbye to him "You are just like an avalanche, cold as I might have guessed." The next part "Atleast i'm covered up for now." means he can get through it, but he doesn't know for how long. "In a big big way, I am really small. I got off my feet, but I'm still distant." He sees her everyday, but it's just not enough. She still sees him from the longest distance. Which brings me to the last point, Why it's named 156. As many have already said, it is the length of the universe. 156 Billion light years, this would be the longest distance. Saying "goodbye" and meaning it is the farthest distance you can be from anyone even if you see them everyday. Now I might have a few things mixed up, but you can see where I'm going with it. -TheToolmanRamZ |
