I think this song is about a guy who's in a relationship, and the two break up, and they're both torn about it ("You're hurting no more than I"), but he knows they must move on ("The pages must still turn), and eventually he turns to God about it (The entire last part), and how he realizes that God's love is better than a relationship. |

I really like this sopng,and Welch has some pre tty interesting songs.My thoughts have pretty much been covered,but I'll say them anyway.This si talking about how humans have turned Christianity into a set of rules,when it should be about the relationship itself.I really liked the analogy of the moon and the sign.That's a great way to explain it.I think he's just adressing this issue,that we,as humans,naturally over do things.
It's kind of funny,because if you didn't know his story,and saw the songs' title,some people would think he's singing anti-Christ songs,but it's actually the opposite.He just wants tot se all the rules go away. |

This may be a bit of a stretch,but it kind of seems like this is talking about how much closer you are to God when you've lost everything,and how having nothing and being hurt and broken ususally causes you to grow closer to God. |
