I like the replace theory and the gay theory but... To me the story goes like this (I am probably reading way too much into this but) he meets this coolie girl that's way different and he really connects with (the I was with a girl/boy part)and she takes his virginity or something and then leaves him. Then he tries to replace her with a second girl to try to relive it but it doesn't work. |

This song is fun and upbeat, which is weird for a MM song. I think it's about becoming famous overnight. The truth had stopped and the skyline rose Exchanging comfort for more fashionable clothes I'd left the hills at this point in time To run on treadmills in a perfect line The songs lost credibility from being played on the radio? But the skyline rose/leaving the hills is going from Issaquah to Seattle/Portland. And running treadmills in a perfect line is conformity. |

I love the fish part, how they want to feel what it's like to fall down. I kind of long ago gave up on any complete understanding of any modest mouse song, but I think I actually have a good grasp on what this ones about. I think it's kind of like Dashboard, about global warming and the end of the world or whatever, and how people end up wasting their time until they're running out of it. I think the fish part is a morbid curiosity about the end of the world and how we want to "feel what it's like to fall down." I have to say guys, I listened to No One's First last night and I'm liking it. I don't know why, but it seems a lot better than We Were Dead somehow. August 4th <333 |
