| Oops! That "And wait for hours, no sight or sound" that comes after "From Montreal to Mexico" wasn't supposed to be there. Sorry about that. | |

Okay, here are the correct lyrics as they are written in the booklet that comes in the CD: I broke a promise to myself And took my heart down off the shelf And hey, what a very, very fine day What's the point in a kevlar vest You put a hole into my chest And oh, I know, two weeks are impossible Don't say that you want me Say that you need me Let yourself go Don't try pretending There is no feeling Left in your bones Chase a rabbit in the ground And wait for hours, no sight or sound And oh, my soul, looking for an inch of hope I stretch it lengthwise across the road From Montreal to Mexico And wait for hours, no sight or sound Don't say that you want me Say that you need me Let yourself go Don't try pretending There is no feeling Left in your bones We are intersecting lines We crash in flight Like a rogue machine You are ultraviolet light It burns my eyes And it's all I see Don't say that you want me Say that you need me Let yourself go Don't try pretending There is no feeling Let yourself go Let yourself go Those are the lyrics as written by the Daylights in the album booklet so I assume that they're correct. Overall this is an AMAZING song and I hope that more people will discover this incredible band soon. They really are the best. |

"we are intersected lives we crash & fly like a war machine?? you are ultra violet light it glares my eyes?? it's all i see" The correct lyric is "like a rogue machine" just like the title of the song. The rest of it looks right to me as best as I can tell. Love the Daylights and this is an awesome song. |

lsmalplz, I got the lyrics to this and all of the other songs from this album off of davidcookofficial.com back in November when the album first came out. Someone has pointed out to me that they have since removed the official lyrics from the site, but I got them back in November so I feel fairly certain that they are correct. DCO had that part as I can't get close if you're not there I can't get inside if there's no soul to bare I can't fix you I can't save you It's something you have to do Some may argue with these or hear it differently but this is how they first appeared on his official site. And I've seen him in concert three times and this is how I've heard the song every time. |

That's an interesting interpretation spicedt, although it doesn't really fit since this song was written back in 2006 long before he went on Idol or became a professional musician. It was originally written for his second independent solo album that was never released. I saw him in concert in Tulsa not long ago and he said that he wrote this song on a friend's couch back in 2006 when he was living in Tulsa and working as a bartender while struggling to make it as a musician. He said that he never dreamed when he wrote it that three years later it would be on a major label record. To me this is a song of pure joy. Whenever I hear it I can't stop myself from smiling. In my opinion this is one of David's best songs and I love it more every time I hear it. Also the lyrics are wrong. The actual lyric is "it's a half-faith blessing" not a "half-baked blessing." I got the correct lyrics off of his official site davidcookofficial.com. |
