It seems to me that the most obvious interpretation of this is that he is just referring to himself in the 3rd person. Either that or he actually has a monkey. Either/or. |

He feels like his life is at a stand still and doing whatever he is doing right now is unfulfilling. He keeps looking into the past when things were better and he was happier though his life can't go on untill he starts looking to the future. I always really liked this song and now I am relating to it so much. |

I can relate to this song so much. He obviously feels lonely even though he doesn't know why and probably shouldn't. He needs to be somewhere around people who can tell that something is bothering him but they don't know why. |

| The song is pretty clearly about someone that he likes and how he finds them more and more attractive every day. At the end with the lyrics "So what's the trouble you might ask? Cloudy days are in the past. I'd like to think there's truth in that, But sunny days, they never last." He explains why he wouldn't want to follow through with his wants because he is afraid that eventually any sort of relationship he would develop with that person would eventually fall to crap. | |

I connect with this song so well. The way I see it, he just feels so tired and is sick of doing everything that he is forced to, and is sick of all the bad things that happen to him. (like the common cold). It has been so long since a girl has shown him interest and even if it is just for the night, that is all he needs. "Say it's true; say you like me. (I like you.) Just for the night, for me it's been eternity." Every time I hear this line I get the chills. It is almost word for word exactly how I am feeling lately. Such a good song. |

Perhaps about how in past relationships his girlfriends broke up with him because he wasn't taking them or the relationship seriously enough. Maybe they critisized him for not being mature enough or something. So in order to make this perticular relationship work he needs to be as serious as he can be even though its hard for him. Perhaps. |

| I'm pretty sure this song is about the singer feeling something for a girl who doesn't feel the same way. "well how was I to know that you wouldn't relate" When he tells her how he feels, she turns him down and he needs to hide his feelings in order to not make it akward between them. And it hurts bad to have to bottle up his feelings like that. | |
