When I heard this song the first time it really hit home. As I understand it, it's a song basically about how he's ending a relationship, but not because he's giving up on it but because he's letting go of the situation thats out of his control. I was in a relationship where my girlfriend was basically asking me to be God for her, and make everything better. It got to a point after a year where she asked for to much and I had to let her go because the situation was beyond me, and I had reached the end of what I could do for her. The conversation wen just like the song does, a moment where the world seems to stop, the world frozen in a moment of intensity and she asked why. My answer was the same as in the song, word for word. I heard this song two days later, and I found alot of comfort in it. |

This is a beautiful song, that I think has two meanings. The first and most obvious is about a significant other who is the only one that has the ability to rescue him from falling into a simplified and boring lifestyle that will leave him discontent and alone. But at the same time stirs a discontent with where he is in life, and can only be satisfied when he's "inside these arms of yours." The second meaning is a little out there, and I may of very well be mistaken, but I believe this is also an apology, for meeting someone who was unique and innocent and beautiful (in fields where nothing grew but weeds, I found a flower at my feet), and then corrupting her and hurting her (Inside my hands these petals brown, dried up fallen to the ground, but it was already to late now), and then leaving her where he found her so that she can recover (so I push my fingers through the earth, return this flower to the dirt, so it could live I walk away now). Thats what I think, reply and let me know if ya'll agree or not. |

I'm probably wrong, but I think this is a stoner song. It's talks about needing a pick me up, and than when things get to crazy, breakaway to "higher" places. So ya,I'm gonna agree with RockandRolla2009. |

I agree with CorruptedbySound, it's deffineately more than just a love song. I personally interpretted it as apology. I think it's about how people grow apart, until they're strangers, and then trying to reconnect. |

I think this is about war. It's saying how 1 21 gun salute (meaning the death of a soldier) is to many. That we should put down our arms (meaning weapons) and throw up our arms into the sky meaning that we should quit the fight and move past it. |
