this song is amazing, it makes me happy just hearing the very opening line. i think it's quite significant in our times too, like in a stereotypical sense, it's very much reflecting on british society right now. i don't think it has any hidden meanings, it's just an observation of what is happening now in our culture and how he himself is just like all other young guys |

Personally I think it's about sex, and love, about not letting the one you love go and watching over them forever, even as they sleep. The line 'My beard grew down to the floor and out through the doors' means to me that they are always going to be there for their loved one, as in reality beards take ages to grow long, and the artist wants to forever lie there in bed with their loved one, whilst the beard acts as a measurement of time. Hope that kind of makes sense, wasn't sure how to put it into words. |
