| Well, there are a lot of reasons this is important to do. First of all, sexual immorality is just that: immoral. A main reason, though, that God wants us to abstain until marriage is that we are sensitive, and being dumped after giving our innocence away can be very emotionally damaging. We are God's children and he wants us to avoid such hurt. Also, it's a big struggle for guys to avoid lustful thoughts, and dating/ premarital sex makes it next to impossible for them, so it's promoting their sin. A good Christian guy will find it attractive when a girl makes it easy for them to focus on being a good Christian. The Bible tells us to treat men like brothers. Essentially, doing this makes the right guy stick out like a sore thumb. He will pursue you and make it painfully obvious that he loves you, so that there's no doubt in your mind. This distinction is much harder to make when you treat every guy like a potential boyfriend. | |
