Nevermore – My Acid Words Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, on a more personal level, I feel like this is a song about a man who is very depressed, but he seeks all the answers, but it doesn't seem to matter because when he finds the answers, no one will listen to them. People ignore and maybe even reprimand him for his answers because they don't match up with their own. When no one cares, you die inside, hence the depression I mentioned(feelings of great loneliness, complete sadness, or most likely complete apathy and lack of feeling, so he is "dead"). He hates the way these people aren't open minded to his own ideas, so he feels the world around him is close-minded and ignorant, which will eventually lead to its destruction. And he is watching while the Acid Words are "feeding"(beginning to show some truth, yet these people still don't believe him) and as their wills deteriorate(as they realize too late that, perhaps, the character was correct or that his advice could've helped them). Not to mention the damage their carelessness causes(When I'm dead, will you remember...this cancer inside of me...will you care?). he just begins to accept this useless world, and the people in it. And, finally, he hates the way they look at him when he tries to say what he wants to say, and the way they ignore it.

Its a one way ride and theres nothing you can do
Not even suicide or my acid words can teach you anything useful

It's a one way ride....(the world will deteriorate because of people like you, and you won't and probably can't fix it, no matter what)

Not even my death will make you realize I'm in pain and you aren't listening,
Not even My Acid Words can teach any one any thing.

Megadeth – Poison Was The Cure Lyrics 16 years ago
I thought I read somewhere that while Dave was trying to get off his heroine addiction he used some kind of drug, and as he used the drug more and more to deal with his addiction, he got addicted to that drug. Hence, "The Poison Was the Cure".

Megadeth – My Creation Lyrics 16 years ago
Fun trivia: Menza wrote the a part of the song, I think, then Dave went through and finished the song and MIGHT've wrote the lyrics(can't remember who did that), then when Dave showed it to Nick, Nick responded," You're paying me for this, right?" and Mustaine was later quoted as saying," It just seems like things will never change".

Megadeth – Mechanix Lyrics 16 years ago
To clear a few things: Mustaine wrote "The Mechanix" before he became part of Metallica. I prefer this version to "The Four Horseman" because this is the closest to the original and I think it really displays a lot of Mustaine's passion, plus I don't think it is cool to kick a guy out of your band, and steal his music(Yes, I'm aware they credited him, but it could've basically been stealing when he asked/told them not to use it, in my opinion) just because it happened to be on your demo tape.

Love Mustaine's soloing. He had some great solos on Killing Is My Business..., and I heavily prefer it to Hammet's soloing, which I feel is a bunch of over use of wah.

Also, I don't really know how Metallica changed the face of Metal, if you are implying that they started thrash metal or some thing(only thing I can think of, they haven't done any thing that great, imo). There were bands like Overkill that started a couple years before them AND Megadeth.

End rant. But, seriously, amazing song.

Megadeth – Looking Down the Cross Lyrics 16 years ago
Blackened's got it. Christ never spoke of his anger, though, only thought it. Hence the lines, "Speak no evil".

Definitely one of my favorite albums of all time. Might be my favorite. Had such a good variety on it. A very under rated song.

Megadeth – Countdown to Extinction Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, I don't think it is a shot at Hetfield or Nugent. Nick Menza wrote the lyrics, if I recall(correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Dave Mustaine said," It think was Dave's(Ellefson) title and Nick's(Menza) lyric", even though I'm pretty sure Dave has writing credits on the song, but my point is that it was Nick's idea.

Yes, the song is about caged hunts and the like, but the idea is more that while people are doing caged hunts and endangering species, etc., eventually there will be only one animal to hunt, and that is man. Dave says this in an interview in The Warchest: "Countdown to Extinction is more or less about how we kill off all our animals, the hunters are only going to be able to kill off one last animal, that's man(as I stated before)." Nick brought the idea to Dave(Mustaine) while they were touring, Ellefson and Menza had discussed the idea before hand, and it's primarily Nick's lyrics, I believe.
