I think that it is about how somebody can't sleep due to something wrong that has happened in their life and the whole night is just choppy sleep. And then it goes on at the end about how there are locks, and that means that thinks are right as they go back to sleep. Great song btw! |

Well, the lyrics of this song piss me off, but this is what I think the song is about anyway: If I'm a bad person, you don't like me I guess I'll go Make my own way It's a circle, a mean cycle I can't excite you anymore (She is pretty much referring to her relationship with Josh and how pissed off he was when she left him to date Chad and how she couldn't make him happy about it anymore.) Where's your gavel? Your jury? What's my offense this time? You're not a judge But if you're gonna judge me Well, sentence me to another life (Here, Hayley is bringing up the point that she did nothing wrong to him, but he went off on her. Another metaphor used here is the whole judge/jury thing here, where she says it's not his place to judge her.) Don't wanna hear your sad songs I don't wanna feel your pain When you swear it's all my fault 'Cause you know we're not the same Oh, we're not the same The friends who stuck together We wrote our names in blood But I guess you can't accept that the change is good It's good (Here, she is bringing up the sad songs Josh had been writing after their breakup. Another thing is that "we wrote our names in blood," I think it means one of two things: They swore they'd be a band together but Josh almost made the band break up itself after this, or another meaning for that term, which makes less sense could mean that Hayley and Josh had sex.) You treat me just like another stranger Well, it's nice to meet you, sir I guess I'll go I best be on my way out Ignorance is your new best friend (This simply shows how Josh has been ignoring Hayley since they're breakup and how he wanted her to leave.) This is the best thing that could've happened Any longer and I wouldn't have made it It's not a war, no It's not a rapture (Once again, she is bringing up another metaphor on the feud she's been having with Josh.) I'm just a person, but you can't take it The same tricks that once fooled me They won't get you anywhere I'm not the same kid from your memory Now I can fend for myself (The last line pretty much sums up the verse, she says that she can fend for herself and can control her own relationship with Chad and doesn't feel the same for Josh anymore.) That my interpretation of the song, it may be far off, but that's what I think it is. |
