Justice – D.A.N.C.E. Lyrics 14 years ago
scratch that. "working day and night" is a song on the Off the Wall album, though the song Off the Wall doesn't have the line working day and night in it.... although if you listen to the lyrics it's the same concept of being tired in your job. See- "When the world is on your shoulder. Gotta straighten up your act and boogie down....tonight gotta leave that 9-5 up on the shelf, and just enjoy yourself"

working day and night is also another line from a Michael Jackson song. "Off the Wall" I believe which is also an album title.

Blonde Redhead – My Plants Are Dead Lyrics 14 years ago
"told" is all "tell" ...in present tense. it's like casual chatting, much like the rest of the song's lyrics.

Zero 7 – Left Behind Lyrics 15 years ago
Not that it's a big difference but I hear the line:

Are you on to find some peace of mind

"And you ought to find some peace of mind"

Takes on a slightly sarcastic tone, almost disdainful. I think there's always a touch of that at the close of a relationship, especially in light of the line about the differing views (i see sun, you see rain)

Cocteau Twins – Cherry-Coloured Funk Lyrics 15 years ago
i read through these lyrics and i keep finding parts I disagree on. But then I realize we're both right. It's not about one meaning. It's a rarschach of a song

Zero 7 – Ghost Symbol Lyrics 15 years ago
On the surface seems to be about that all too familiar longing of one person for another--unrequited love... not necessarily romantic. Sometimes you feel so drawn to someone and connected but they just aren't in the same world as you are.
You're so ordinary to them, which causes you to put on this "face" and act like you don't care. You let go, say no.
I guess the song is conveying the tragedy and misfortune of doing it so much that it becomes a skill. How much is there to love if it's not balanced? Is it still worthwhile if only one person is feeling it? Can you even call it love?

Passion Pit – Sleepyhead Lyrics 16 years ago
I love the beginning the best. Anyone know where that sample is from? Sounds like a Japanese lady or something not English. Not sure if it's supposed to be understood as words. Sometimes electronica/techno/House music uses sounds of words like it's an intrument, as gibberish-like. Kind of like the background singers in "I Only have Eyes For You" by The Flamingos.
But I really love the way it sounds here.

Broadcast – Accidentals Lyrics 16 years ago
I interpret the lyrics (in your third and fourth lines) as:

"I don't think this branch
can take my weight"

esp since she mentions a tree after.

I also think "sleep" is just "see".

As in "will you see it my way?"

Lady GaGa – LoveGame Lyrics 16 years ago
you cant discuss the lyrics in any intellectual manner, honestly. But I still like this song a lot for the beat and that great melodic pulse in the back that cycles again and again but never gets old. Lady Gaga brings such energy and excitement with her music....but pretty empty lyrics. OH well. I still love it!

Radiohead – House of Cards Lyrics 16 years ago
OK, this is just my own odd way of liking a song...but in the background around the time when Thom sings the lyrics "The infastructure will collapse, from voltage spikes" there's this sqwauking sort of sound in the back that imitates birds or something, in perfect time with the rhythm. I love that part and I don't know why. It's like some odd reference to nature, out of place but cute. Although, it probably was never intended to actually sound like birds....but that's what I think of everytime.

Radiohead – All I Need Lyrics 16 years ago
It's easy to assume the narrator is male because that's the singing voice we hear. But there's nothing definite in the lyrics about it being a male. I interpreted first as female...maybe becuase I am female and I was relating to it. The lyrics do have a very simplistic vagueness about them that is highly relatable. Simple as the words are, they have a highly poetic feel to them, even without all the melodies that make it beautiful.
It could go either way, and because we dont get a lot of detail on the situation of this person...there's less specifics to cut listeners out of the scenario. We listen and think, "man, this is my life" In the end, that's usually why we like songs.
