| The Becoming – Heaven Isn't So Far Lyrics

I think this song is about allowing sin to deceive you. You can see something pleasurable in sin, which can seem to be like heaven to you at that moment. You can slip a little, still go to church or whatever, and think that heaven still isn't so far. I think that the line, "Your voice sounds like the sirens" is alluding to the sirens in Greek mythology that had enchanting voices which caused Sailers to shipwreck on the rocky coast. |

I love the metaphore at the beginning.... (it almost scared me away, this being their first song I heard) ... at first, I was like, "oh, no... a song about the wonders of cutting" ...but when I kept listening, I realized that this is an amazing song (and the video was really well made, too) Sin is self-inflicted pain. Sometimes when we do stuff we think is fun, we don't realize that all we're doing is hurting ourself. Those first lines are really brave. |

This is one of my all time favorite songs, and the video is amazing. Red's lyrics definitely have a common theme, which I strongly relate to. The song helps remind me that my selfishness is sick and needs to end, before it ends me. |

This is a great song. I guess it could be called a great "battle song" for the fight with the inner demons of addiction. I kind of wish they would mention God, and how he's helping "overtake you" ... but I guess their kind of a cross-over band, and they don't want to seem too cheesey or something... I guess Red's just hoping we'll assume he's getting help from God. (because we can't win this fight alone) |
