This song is about the economic downfall of Detroit. Simple as that. The band is from Grand Rapids and saw first hand what affect the economy had on Detroit. Detroit was hit harder (IMO) than any other city was solely on the fact that they were already hurting before the crash. People wanting to give up and just end their suffering but not being able to because of those around them. |

I knew he was coming back from his mistakes the minute the hook hit. Love or hate him the man will go down as one of the greatest ARTISTS in music history. The greatest artists were only good at one thing...creating art. MJ had his issues with body dysmorphic disorder, Beethoven used his Bipolar Disorder to fuel his creativity, Michelangelo had Asperger's. Kanye West is a brilliant musician who has problems understanding humanity. |

Being in the same situation that is exactly how it feels. If you know someone who seems like they might commit suicide SPEAK UP AND SAVE THEM FROM THEMSELVES. If I did that, maybe my friend would still be here. This song hit's very close to home. |

To me, this song is 100% about dying. It feels as though it is a dying man's last words to the woman he loves. Many STD songs are connected to Death/Eulogies. This is just the same. That being said. This is my favorite 2nd favorite song of the Album.
Also, people need to stop using this place to confess their undying devotion to "the one who got away/broke your heart" Get over it. Move on. Find a different medium to express your emotions. Like...I don't know....sit down and write music of your own. How do you think Chris got most of the song's he wrote????? |

I think you are missing the point of the song. Neil wasn't fishing for sympathy. He was explaining himself more than anything else. He was only stating that he didn't want the spotlight that he and Rush got. They play music just for that...the music. Not the money. They were not ready for the extreme exposure they got from the radio/pop culture. |
