I feel like this song could possibly be about the current economic situation in America. The title kind of gives me that impression, and some of the lyrics really go with it too. Like, "It's cold outside, I know, but wait / I've been waiting so long to see the storm break" could be saying that Americans have been waiting years for the government to get it together. In a way, the chorus could even relate to that theme. Like, "Put one shoe on then the button and zip your lips" kind of makes me think of getting bundled up to be in the situation for the long haul. Then, the part about being in love in the summertime, then winter coming and everything falls apart, could be like, a comparison to how it used to be to how it is now. Like summer, when people had money to do things they want, and things were easy, and it was low-stress. Then winter came, and that would be like how it is now, and people are running out of money, relationships are ending because they can't handle the pressure on the relationship. It even blatantly says, "I blame the government for our love locking up". Even more clearly stated is "America called, they want their pension plan". I could be way off here, but that's just what I draw from it. Either way, it's an amazing song that's been on repeat on my ipod for several days. |

I'm pretty sure the chorus is "This is how I cope with losing you". Other than that, amazing song. I love how different it is from the usual FTSK sound. |
