OK first off this is an awsome song...i came on here to find out what the "straw dog" was but i kinda formed my own interpretation (whether it's right or not). I think the straw dog is lke "Jessica's" dreams. This girl wants to do everything, she wants to live life to the fullest but she's not really worrying about the future or it's consequences. It says "she doesn't have a flame - she'd prefer to burn out like a torch"....she doesn't have desire...she doesn't care where she ends up. I basically consider the "straw dog" to be metaphoric. Straw isn't very heavy and it can blow away at anytime - just like her dreams. She kinda lives on the edge, and so she places her dreams in the middle of the street - careless to what happens. That's my interpretation whether it's the actualy meaning or not...it's what i think. I think taht's the whole point of song writing...to affect many different ppl by many differnet ways. Everyone has their own interpretations.:) |

This song is awesome and it's so damn true for alot of gurls out there.She actually does want to be saved and she thinks taht by sleeping around with all these guys that they'll fill the emptyness that she feels. The best line in the whole song (and the one that basically sums it up) is the line "she prays for days when boys mean she's protected"...it's just a really good song but sadly true for alot of insecure girls. |

Ok I think this song is about an abusive relationship. He says "I feel soon I will sink into you", this implies that he's going to a abuse her in some way. But then again she abuses him too becasue he says "cause there's still blood in your hair and i've got the bruise of the year". It also shows how the girl has no self esteen because he says how she has "weak wrists" ....maybe from self inflicting wounds or attempted suicide. I think basically this song is about a man and a woman that abuse eachother yet still remain together. He says" it's too bad you're married to me". I think this means that he's being abused and he's abusing her but he can't help it becasue that's how the relationship is and how it works. |

This is a great song but it think it's deaper than it seems....I think it's about being completely infatuated with someone, so much that you want to "see like their eyes do" and I think maybe this is the first time these two people are having sex because he says "tonight I feel like more"....he says she "tastes foreign" and this also leads me to think it's the first time he's tasted her like this....I think alot of the deftone's songs are sexual but i think this one is more about pure infatuation and lust.... |
