I love this song. Silence is empty, filled with breaths from mouths that never move no more she talked some more, she talks now -- It's a little hard to explain, but i think this means that what used to be a girl who was happy, and and spoke of what was to come,. has passed away ( breaths from mouths that never move no more ) and all the lights went out in empty rooms and now the empty hall I talk alone, i talk now -- i think this is taking place in a hostpital, where she is in her room, but it still feels completely empty, since her actual prescence is not there anymore. ( and all the lights went out in empty rooms, and now the empty hall ) And i think this man is explaining how he kept emotions bottled up from this girl, and he cant tell her what he wanted to anymore. but now, he needs to say what he feels. ( I talk alone, i talk now ) And all I wanted was a Chance to see you anyway hold me, fold me up in your arms faster, my love, sinking and gone -- This explains that this person just wanted a last chance to see this person before she passes, even though there's nothing more that can be done to save her. -- ( hold me, fold me up in your arms, faster, my love, sinking and gone ) This is probably explaining that he just wished he had some closure, and he wishes he could be with her, because when he is with her everything seems alright. But he is rushing because he knows they dont have much time left, but before he can get to her, their love is gone, along with the girl, and she passes away. All too fast. Oh my god i love this song. whenever i hear it i think about a friend that meant to much to me but he got into drugs and smoking and he'll never be the same. we dont even talk anymore. The song lyrics are exactly what im thinking. Step one, you say, "We need to talk"/ He walks, -- This could be after a fight, when you say you want to talk it out, but he walks away, not wanting to hear any of it from you. He smiles politely back at you /You stare politely right on through/ -- When i hear this i think of the two people meeting for the first time. Not ever expecting what comes in the future. Some sort of window to your right/ As he goes left and you stay right/ -- he takes a different path ( such as taking drugs, or becomes severely depressed ) as you stay the same and stand your ground. Between the lines of fear and blame/ You begin to wonder why you came -- This reminds me of me doing everything i could to keep our friendship/relationship. ( fearing i'd lose him, him blaming me for everything that went wrong ) I realised i was the only one that was trying to make is work. Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life -- This reminds me of all the fighting, and how it wasnt worth it at all. And in consequence of fighting, we both became bitter and numb to each other. 'And I would have stayed up with you all night, Had I known how to save a life' Wishing you could go back for even just one day and try to make it right, try to talk this person out of whatever he's doing. Or just being there for him. Instead of walking away. Drive until you lose the road Or break with the ones you've followed He will do one of two things: He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same And you'll begin to wonder why you came -- And finally, this explains that you might have given him an ultimatum, and you're hoping he will say hes sorry, and takes some blame for the things that had happened in the past. But you know he never will, because everthing he has put himself through had changed him.
