I think the song is not about an action or events. Its about someone trying so hard to be something they are not, that they lose themselves along the way. "You Broke another mirror, your turning into something you are not".
They feel like they have nothing left, and no one there. They are in a solemn depression, because they can not find themselves again. And they feel that no one wants them. They miss who they were "best thing that you've ever had"
They just want someone to be there for them, and help them. "Don't leave me high, don't leave me dry" |

I think this song is a love song, even in the fact it is talking about how lovers wait till death. Its shows that the two love each other so much, that they are willing to wait through it all, and have the tragic end all lovers face. |
