| My God I love this song! The 'nothin happenin.... that's about it..." part is my favorite. I love Beck, and more people should know this song, because this is probably one of the best songs from his career. The older, the better in some cases with Beck. The really rare stuff is really good. Not well known enough. | |
| Beck – Puttin' It Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I don't think that this is about a girl or anything. I think that this is about how hard it was for Beck to start up his career. Job after low wage job, he was frustrated. "I'm puttin it down But you treat me like a clown And I don't want to be funny" That part ^ is my favorite. It's so serious and easy to relate to. No one likes to be not taken seriously. I think this is about how Beck's music is sometimes perceived to be very funny. His lyrics are goofy and strange. Especially with his early stuff, it was great! But at the time, maybe not alot of people understood. They just laughed him off. And he didn't want to be funny. He loved music and wanted a serious music career, but no one was picking it up! Also, when he says he's being treated like a re-run. He is so unique and original. Maybe someone told him his music wasn't all that special. But to him, he made an effort to be real and unique. |

| Beck – Chemtrails Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think that this whole Modern Guilt album is more or less, save the environment, become less selfish. Yes, the lyrics are cryptic, but you can draw a meaning. Beck is speaking about the "sins" of humans. Not sins that have to do with Jesus Christ, but personal sins. Beck talks about how we're all drowning. Everyone is falling into the trap of shallowness. We are drowning in our own fakeness, when there is a bigger issue going on here. Beck is reminding himself in this song how small humans are, and how we can't forget that. Beck is obviously guilty about something here. And it all fits, humans are fucking up the environment & the Earth. |

| Beck – Volcano Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I actually don't think that this is positive at all. I get a sense of hopelessness, like in Chemtrails, there is a sort of sadness for humanity. Beck is afraid of what is real and fake, he's been wondering if this is "all an illusion". I think recently, in Modern Guilt and The Information, Beck has written very mature songs running with similar things. This song is about how fake the world has become. How we're shallow. We've been "riding this wave for so long", but where are we really going? Beck doesn't even know. This makes him sad. And he doesn't want to kill himself, he likes his life too much, although he has no idea why. He wants to "warm his bones". He wants to be reminded what the world is really about. He's not ready to go "back into the womb of the earth", but he wants to be reminded of what that really is. |

| Beck – The Horrible Fanfare/Landslide/Exoskeleton Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Fabriceb, it what you said is true, then they are talking about how "the perfect record" would be "hand made by monks" Or made by a power bigger than them. This record could change, mean something different to everyone. When you listen to it, it means something special to you, but at the same time, it tells you what it would tell everyone. It would guide you, like a religion. It's very spiritual. and it would be so powerful, it takes over earth. It is The Religion. It brings peace. And it's so powerful, it's meant to be limitless. It can't just exist in Earth, so it breaks free. It is the space ship that takes it away from Earth and other civilizations. It needs to protecting from the vacuum of space because it IS the exoskeleton. And it's meant to spread through the universe. That's so weird! But it seems kind of powerful. Like Beck wants to create some seed in your mind about this "Perfect Record." When you know the pretext, the two people talking don't sound as insane. |

I really love this song. "wake up without thinking you're the one that I desire" That part really is sweet. It remind me of "Totally Confused" Like a simple statement, but one of love. I love Beck, and this song is amazing. |
