| Completely agree with NumLockMusic. It makes sense with the repeated "I Did" and "I Know" through out the lyrics but the "Empty Promises" is what got me because i can see how she broke the relationship with those from being too cautious with love. | |

It's pretty obvious what the song is about. It's about judging people without knowing what they've actually been through, as indicated in the chorus and the 3 stories mentioned throughout the song. 1st story: The guy saying "Get a job, you fuckin' slob" is judging the homeless guy without knowing what hes been through. 2nd story: The static is pro-life protesters, "They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner And they call her a whore" without knowing what Mary has been through. 3rd story: The news covers the story involving Max and like all news, you only get one side of the story and not all of it. While what they say also affects Max's family who "Are caught in the midst of all of his pain". The last part where he says: I've seen a rich man beg I've seen a good man sin I've seen a tough man cry etc Illustrates that people don't realize how hard being in such situations are until they are in it them selves. Moral of the story is don't be so quick to judge people for those who judge without knowing. |
