Funeral for a Friend – Charlie Don't Surf Lyrics 16 years ago
sounds like the idea of the loss of faith.

the first few lines sound like him praying to god and receiving no response. however he still had hope as things got worse and worse. as the song progresses it reveals the characters loss of faith and unanswered questions.

wrong lyrics.

I called the house to see if anyone was home
Questioned the silences, the negative response
Stayed to see the sunrise
raising hell upon the square
Didn't lose the sense of promise
Laced upon the air.
Education was a simple learning curve
Ruined by the lack of anything to use
Of knowing what to say and what to lock away
Pay attention for detention is here to stay

And it took so long to find
All the answers through the lies
And it's been so long
That I don't know if it's alright

Problematic interest never fails to impress
Score cards for everyone
You wear them out to dress
Badge of honour true to code and true to form
Buried underneath all these expectations
If there could be any kind of picutre
That I could paint for you
I bet you any money that the numbers
Wouldn't stick for all I know
I'll take some credit for myself if I can
And walk away from this
Whole scene a happier man

And it took so long to find
All the answers through the lies
And it's been so long
That I don't know if it's alright

It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright

And it took so long to wait until the end

Funeral for a Friend – Constant Resurrections Lyrics 16 years ago
the entire album deals with the loss of faith. i believe that this song can be interpreted as a word of advice to the listener, to stay pure and stay innocent for as long as possible. when the music is over, continue to keep those words in your mind for as long as you live because once you lose hope, the game is over.
