This song is obviously about a lover's tiff that has ended in teats. It seems as though the writer has told the partner something that has upset them and is apologising. |

I agree with AliceUnbelonging.
I think the song implys that she has seen someone being abused by someone she loves. This would explain the 'I must be dreaming' phrase. Then the chorus, 'It's not what it seems, not what you think, I must be dreaming' seems to be going through the thought process of someone who is trying to tell themselves that what they have seen did not happen and that it is simply in their mind. Furthermore, I think the line, 'We all live, we all die, that does not begin to justify you' possibly implies that someone here has lost their life, and that she has indeed witnessed a murder. Also, it could be that she has dreamed of someone being killed and believes it is a premonition. This is shown through the line, 'I fear you but spoken fears can come true' as if to say, 'If I tell someone what I've seen in my dreams, it could come true and I could be killed'. |
