was listening to this song and reading the lyrics cause i love this song and perhaps figured something out from my view for the particular part "How can you know what things are worth If your hands wont move to do a days work?" From my view of this is a relationship kind of song, I believe these lines are when you've lost someone close to you (family or relationship) it is incredibly hard to focus and do tasks because all you can think of is them and the sadness consumes you... Please reply :) |

Nightwish – The Islander Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The correct lyrics An old man by a seashore At the end of day Gazes the horizon With seawinds in his face Tempest-tossed island Seasons all the same Anchorage unpainted And a ship without a name Sea without a shore for the banished one unheard He lightens the beacon, light at the end of world Showing the way lighting hope in their hearts The ones on their travels homeward from afar This is for long-forgotten Light at the end of the world Horizon crying The tears he left behind long ago The albatross is flying Making him daydream The time before he became One of the world's unseen Princess in the tower Children in the fields Life gave him it all: An island of the universe Now his love's a memory A ghost in the fog He sets the sails one last time Saying farewell to the world Anchor to the water Seabed far below Grass still in his feet And a smile beneath his brow This is for long-forgotten Light at the end of the world Horizon crying The tears he left behind so long ago |
Celldweller – Afraid This Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Ohhh just an add on to my comment before Was listening to this song on listened to the chorus and in particular the words "It isn't easy to admit I don’t think I’m believing it I’m afraid this time" And thought perhaps this part means he's afraid because someone has made him feel again and he's afraid because he could get hurt. Like someone managed to break his walls or looks like she is wearing them down. I dunno think about it ;) |
Celldweller – Afraid This Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
When I first heard this song I thought it was about being violated; but now that I read the comments it makes sense and actually fits me like perfectly. I think (now) that he is in a relationship and he feels distanted from it; she could do almost anything and he would hardly hurt, if at all. But because he can't feel the hurtfull side of love he can't feel the loving side. |

I can't believe I'm the first to comment on this song!! It's one of the best songs off the "Daylight" album in my opinion. As for the meaning; I'm not really sure on my idea but here it is anyway. I think its a song about pain and maybe that he's done so much and so many things have happened that even when a loved one doesn't feel for him anymore it doesn't affect him. Like he's become immune to pain kinda. Thats my idea anyway. |
