Its a metaphor for the United States of America. Think about it. America has seen and done so much in just two centuries, you can't go anywhere in the world without seeing something related to, or feeling the touch of, America/Americanism, and she was born from a dream of freedom that still exists today, and nothing can stop her/the American dream. "Night after night ... Fight after fight" references how America has always struggled to survive, yet always comes out on top. "One rule... Only the strong survive", America has survived through its infancy by becoming the sole superpower in the world today. "Never back down... destroying everything", America doesn't back down from its enemies, and we'll destroy whatever gets in our way. The lines about blood and screaming with love; we have fought and bled for our country and freedom, and America has always been the place to go to find peace and safety.
Nobody in this world will ever stop or keep America from being the land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, everybody wants to be like America or is jealous of America for what we have, and everybody in this world just needs to see her to understand how beautiful a place this is. America IS everything, and she'll destroy the world if need be, to preserve everything that is great about it.
Hows that for an interpretation?

"its here to face" should be "Its getting harder to face" and
'if only i could wait to see your face again' should be 'If only I could wake and see your face again'

I agree with rhysus. almost sounds to me like the guy loves a girl, and the two are close, but the girl ends up with another guy, and drifts away from him; "drifting from your memory". The whole song is just how the guy can't handle it, and he thinks it 'should have been him[me]'. seems like he also wishes he had told the girl how he felt; "if only i could wake and see your face again, there would be no more regret for all the things i never said"
