Nice review. It's really amazing how unknown this guy is. Sometimes I get the feeling he's doing it on purpose, but it would be nice if he got some success. I remember the first time I heard this C.D.- it was like nothing else I've ever heard before, and it's still one of the most overplayed CD's I have. I read somewhere that the whole thing was his way of coping with overwhelming loneliness he was going through. Martin Tielli and the Be Good Tanyas are the last two things I must see live before I can theoretically call it quits. |

"Are you woman enough to be my man? Bandaged hand in hand". I always interpreted this to be part of a conversation between two lovers. During which she wants him to exhibit positive (feminine-like) characteristics like nurture and displays of affection, not to mention the shedding of (masculine-like) unwanted characteristics- I don't think I need to go into detail about the latter. I can honestly say that this conversation has been the cause of many relationships ending prematurely. Or maybe I am interpreting this line as such because it fits my vision. Either way, I'm questioning myself as a result. And how much better can a song or line get than making you question your own "manhood" ? |
