JAPD that's the first plausible explanation of that line I've seen, good catch. Now we've just gotta figure out the rest of the song (since in 4 pages of comments no one has managed to offer a discerning and logical interpretation) |

| Absoltely love the riffs and relentless and genius pounding drumming in the last 3 minutes of the song, really hammers home the message of the song. | |
| Devin Townsend – Addicted! Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Being 'addicted' in this song is refering to being chained/obsessed with material posessions and feelings which are ultimately fleeting and irrelivent. The pain he speaks of being addicted to is associated with the pain from having an ego and resenting negative things that happen to you. The pornography he's refering to is any earthly thing that we can use to masturbate with, not necessarily sexually; it's a metaphor for time/energy wasting for immediate gratification, which is what sexual masturbation ultimately is. The song is quite spiritual, particularly eastern, with its message. The holy syllabul he repeats of "OM" which is actually "A-U-M" is a representation of life, death and everything in between, which also equates with God. All that being said, it's a totally baddass song ^_^ |

The song can also be interpreted as 'it's been too long since you/i/we had a chance to let go and release all that energy and relax and party (which is what ecstasy is all about anyway) and in doing so mirrors the first song on the albumn "One More Time" It's about coming up on ecstasy and how we don't get to do it often enough and when we finally get to do it it's totally awesome. In the background you can hear the female voice saying 'come on up'. "up" meaning high. It's good to see a few other people realised the song was about this. If you've never taken pills you wouldn't know. |

| Tool – Lateralus Lyrics | 16 years ago |

If it was any longer or any shorter it wouldn't be Lateralus. In my humble opinion it is certainly the best overall song ever written (not including classical music which doesn't count). Ultimate matching of lyrics and transcendental message with ascending riffs that send shivers down my spine every time. As for it being mathematically correct, with Fibonacci sequence etc, well jesus christ, i didn't know that, but it makes sense. |

Really good song. I get the impression its really deep and painful but i have only a slim idea of what it actually means.. It has a really awesome negative vibe and depressingness about with out actually being shit and emo. His voice sounds nuts. What do you guys actually think its about? |

| Saturday Looks Good to Me – When the Party Ends Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song is about someone who could easily be most people. They are caught up in the trivialities of life that the powers of this world would have you believe are important such as the many social constrants we as a western society feel to be justified. The song describes the person sensing the walls of the mind prison without actually being able to see them and hence not knowing how to escape. The person is lacking serious spiritualism or conception of their place within a world which, even with all its human constructed rules and laws, ultimately doesn't make sense. The line: "Let's keep it between you and me" Is the singer explaining how to actually express these inner concerns could be dangerous as people are likely to pass you off as different or (for fear of sounding sterotypical), non-conformist. Being percieved as such is likely to increase anxiety so he's suggesting that you just keep it between those who understand these issues. |
