yeah it`s a good song kind of like all the specials songs dealing with thatchers recession hit britain where working class people were trapped with no future or chance of bettering themselves,so all they believe in is fashion....it`s funny because its a timeless song pretty much like ghost town and could be wrote about browns crumbling britain!!!they truly spoke and stood up for a whole downtroden frustrated generation

it`s funny but it`s gone full circle and todays society is getting like it..i know there`s no rioting but it could speak about any inner city and gorden browns government leaving the youth on the shelf!!!!!!!!no wonder they`re so popular again,they speak up for the downtrodden

yeah i think it`s about opting out the london ratrace or maybe viewing london from a students perspective....."i get up when i want except on wednesdays when i get rudly awaken by the dust men"...or a tramp or some 1 on the dole.....it`s kind of a pisstakey song about people who you`ll find in london parks and a larghy look at london parks.....a lot of blurs songs are about opting out of the hum drum rat race i think and how the rat race can drive you nuts so to speak....parklife and more so the great escape touch on this!!!!!its london actor phil daniels doing vocals....blur loved the mod culture and phill played mixed up mod jimmy in quadrophenia!!!!im not sure weather damon was knocking cockneys or trying to be one!!!you never know with the middle class damon but i think to be fair he struggled to know who he was himself to be honest as with all sensative artists!!!

its about probably graham`s alcohlism and too much touring around world and the whole fame thing,i think it`s them saying they just crave a normal life....i.e the coffee and tv lyric....they want to go back and just be normal people, i know im putting it in simple terms but with all good music you can read what you want into it!!!!

yeah im not sure weather damon is critisising the free love club 18 3o type lifestyle of youngsters in 9os or revelling in it,but i suppose he`s doin what all artists do and just telling it like it is...i allways look upon the whole parklife album as a tell about london life and how youngsters or every1 just wants to escape or look to the good things in life,bank holidays,holidays,sex drugs and rock and roll!!!!i think they was just commentating on the self obsorbed 9os
